Recommendations for something new to learn?

Motto: ""Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump. Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have or could have had. No one lives forever.""
Weapon: Dual Lasers
I have little to nothing to do in my spare time, and I find myself spending money that I don't have on needless things such as the pub, food and women. I have a very creative/addictive personality and I constantly need to be doing something, I've never been the type of guy who'll happily just sit and do nothing all day and night.

I'm pretty much bored of guitar playing, since I've managed to master the Beatles - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds song, so now I'm looking for a new hobby to delve in. I am a passionate writer yet I've ran out of muses to draw inspiration from. What I'm trying to articulate is that I want to learn about something new.

I've always been interested in other cultures, other people's logics, ideas and perspectives. This is where you guys come in.

Recommend me a philosophy, a culture, a theology that you find interesting, even life changing.

I write and draw(sculpt, paint, what have you), but you covered that. TFs and Yuengling Traditional Lager are my only two vexes in life, but still we all need outlets even for our outlets.

When I hit a rut though, I visit a music store. And don't say downloading is just as good, for enjoyments sake, nothing beats rummaging through isles, looking at covers, and finding some oddball 35cent crap to listen to on the ride home.

I go hiking, either in the woods or just around town, it's nice to shrug off the world and let your mind wander as you just look around and see whats up. Hell, I've wandered for hours and found more in nothing than most of everything.

Go buy a book or two, (same deal as the music store). Blow something up, get in a old fashion knife fight with a friend, buy a $100 car at a police auction and drive it into the ground on some off road trails, then burn it when it can't go anymore, and so on and so on. Just have some fun.

Take a break, recharge your batteries and before you know it you'll return with a whole new apreciation for what you love to do.

I've been keenly interested in this. Hoping I might be able to bully my school(s) into doing something about it.

Sumarianism is completely badass.

Personally, when I need something to occupy my time, I figure out ways to survive a zombie outbreak, a Apocalypse scenario, build armor like Iron-man(currently doing), read up on the paranormal and occult, study religions, or try to learn a language.

See, get a book!

And if it sucks, take it to a shooting range.

Either way, boredom and ruts suck, best way to break one is to step outside(of yourself or the front door, it's up to you).

I am a huge history buff and I find it relaxing and fascinating about learning history especially Irish history.

If you like that I reccomend learning about Scottish and American history as well

Too late. I already know far too much about Irish history after taking a module in it last year for university. I can't say that it enthralled me all that much.

And Christ, I just re-read my original post and it was quite possibly the most disjointed series of sentences I think I have ever typed. My excuse is that I was drunk and/or tired.

Now, on a serious note, if I were in your position, I'd probably pick Chinese culture, history, philosophy, ect. There is quite a lot of it, and it is pretty well documented. And because their culture is quite different from the Western world, it'd might be a tad more challenging to learn. I know I personally find it fascinating.

I'm a practical guy and learning about Japanese culture can be useful. Especially the language if you are into Transformers, manga and anime.

I'd recommend researching your family history. I started mine last summer and have managed to trace one branch of my family back to the 1500s. Some branches are a bit more complicated to trace, but you can find out all sorts of interesting facts.

The only downside is that its very addictive.

Take up a martial art. If you're just looking for a pasttime, then the skies the limit...well, depending on what you have in your area. Iaido is ridiculously cool, since it's all about swords. Aikido and Judo are a great time in general.

Another vote for a foreign language. I've been brushing up on my Spanish lately, and it's very satisfying. (Hispanics make up about 1/5 of the population here, so it's practical.)

I also recommend studying martial arts and/or philosophy, any kind.

I'm currently learning more than I expected to learn while working on a Demonology presentation, theres so much Juduo-Christian(sp?) lore I'm dredging through with the origins of Demonology, and I still have yet to hit Egypt, Ireland, Scotland, the meat of the topic.
