So, I'm thinking of getting some Revoltech figures, and I was wondering what the general opinion of them is, including the other figures(Evangelion, etc.).
I know they're highly articulate and anime accurate, but I was wondering what the quality is like. Do they break easily or have parts that are prone to breakage?
Is the plastic generally good quality? Are there any figures that are simply made poorly?
thanks!

The convoy and megatron i have are pretty solid feeling. joints might be a bit loose, but that could just be me/mine.
No experience with the others in that line, other then some of them look sorta cheap when i glanced at them in their boxes.

All good quality plastic. I have Prime, Megs, Magnus, and the Macross Valk, all are really cool, poseable and fun, if you can get past the windshield breasts.
The Valk comes with a ton of accessories.

Ooooo, accessories are good. I'm actually little more interested in the Macross and Evangelion figures though. I'm still on the fence about non-transforming Transformers.

I've heard that the hands are prone to breakage, have you had any experience with that?

No, but I'm pretty good with my figures. With these I find a set I like and leave them in.

The Revoltech hands are sculpted with a square hole in which the wrist peg is glued down. You have to be pretty careful when swapping hands. On my Megatron, the peg just popped loose from the hand, forcing me to pry the peg off his wrist and using his alternate hand. Convoy's hands don't feel too sturdy either. They do turn fine, but every time I swapped them, they felt like they're about to snap. I gave them the hands I liked the most and never swapped them around again.
Revoltechs are cool super poseable statuettes, but not very good toys. It takes a while to find a sweet balancing spot, even with or perhaps due to all the moving points. I like them for what they are, but it really depends on wether you want figurines or toys.

I completely agree -- and the exact same thing happened to me with my Revoltech Megs's right fist. (It'd be fairly easy to glue the peg back onto the fist, but I do like being able to stick it on 2-pack Megatron's stump.

And honestly I think they're a bit overrated, at least when it comes to Megatron and Convoy. They are pretty poseable, but not exceedingly moreso than many of the standard deluxes Hasbro is putting out these days. And while admittedly the Revoltechs look much more natural in their poses, it can be pretty difficult to wrangle them around in just the right way to pull those poses off. So yeah, they're not great toys, but they're nifty collector's items.

Don't think the Revoltechs are overrated at all. They are very good indeed. I have quite a few of those, but not Prime or Megatron though.
How good or bad they are really depends on what you are used to collect & pay. If you mainly collect U.S. TF toys, $20 a piece for these little guys would be a bit steep. But if you are used to importing stuff, its actually considered at a very low price point in the Japanese market. Its great with posing dynamic poses, with interchangeable revoltech ratcheting joints (you can make your own farnkestein robot with a bunch of parts & joints from various bot, as they all fit nicely). The selling point is having ratchet joints for such small figures to lock & hold poses well without much looseness. Which I think the toyline does a good job on. And in some case you do get a loose swivel, just wrap a tiny piece of tape on the stem of that revoltech joint, put it back together. And you got tight joints again. However, some figures do have hips or elbows that are non-revoltech connections. And thats usually when the QC sometimes comes short, with some random looseness.
So in a nutshell, great little figures thats way more dynamic posing than your average robot action figures, and with an awesome lineup. But they do have some minor flaws (depends on which one), and may seem a bit pricey if you are more used to spending $10 on a TF that is both bigger & transforms, & easier to find locally (no additional shipping cost).
