Okay, the chronology is kind of wacked but I'm starting first with Victory.
For the lack of terms I'd use but the masters utilized by Shout on an LED TV HDMI output 32 inch isn't quite as nice.Either the film/format used during the 1990s just doesn't translate well on HDMI output or Toei shafted Shout. The Rhino version of the original series though replete with all the animation mistakes is still as bright as it can be.
And it was kind of confusing when Shout used the Motorvator names of Blacker/Gripper and Laster/Lightspeed. I wished they just stuck to either the english or the japanese names. No problem with Stakeout/Hori.
Extras are kind of bare................just art we've seen on Boltax's archives
That's all I can nit pick aside from the cultural comedic reference that the show was meant to present the audience..................the show was just AWESOME!
Artwise, the old school Japanese mecha style hearkens back to the golden age of anime. Characters die, people die (though kind off nonchalant..........its sort of disturbing) especially the train full of passengers in Spain (spoilers). Either the writers didn't want to animate that particular sequence or was edited in a haphazardly way.
And one more thing...................THANK YOU Shout for removing the Omni production's horrible english voice overs!
A great buy for those wanting to personally own a hard copy of the awesome Japanese series.
Next? Waiting for the delivery of my Headmaster and Masterforce collection.

I got the Metrodome DVDs and the TV-Nihon fansubs. Victory was a decent series, on par with G1, IMO.
Star Saber's "Battle Up!" sequence got old and repetitive really fast.
Hated the changes Shout! Factory made to their sets and have yet to get their version.
And they also made the dumb move of putting the logo for The Headmasters on the DVD cases of all three series.
Oh, and Victory Leo was a boss.
