I agree, this should have been the paint scheme that hasbro put on the original release of Classic Astrotrain.

This is kind of where I'm at. I wouldn't call the G1 color-scheme hideous, I just like the white and black better. This is for those who either passed on the original Classics Astrotrain, or for those who would rather have the G1 show-accurate deco.
to be honest i was not impressed by Hasbro's white version when it first came out here (and apparently, a lot of others too seeing that Astrotrain became the pegwarmer of the Classics line in our country) but seeing the Alt modes the colors fit the mold perfectly, and he grew into me over time.
this versions' colors, though relatively "show-accurate", just doesn't fit the Alt molds right. the shuttle mode looks hideous compared to Hasbro's version, and i guess this is the first time that i have seen a dark gray-colored bullet train.
ah well, to each his own i guess. i'm just looking forward to other TFs i could purchase by passing this one over.

all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

It should be pointed out that the original white Astrotrain was not without merit.
Serveral versions of Astrotrain over the years have sported the white/realistic colorings.
Maybe instead of bashing the old version, we should be happy we have a choice in the matter (or in my case, yet another glorious repaint).

This has gone straight on my transformers to get this year list. This looks much better than the classics version.

Re: Show-Accurate Classics Astrotrain to be Released by TakaraTo
I'm very much looking forward to this one. I've really been wanting a more toon accurate Astrotrain. He is actually becoming one of my favorite characters to collect. I have two G1's, the classic, and the TFCC version, and I'm still looking to add a couple more.

It's a matter of preference. I liked the Hasbro Astrotrain, but I'm not too impressed with this one. I think there are people that would prefer show-accurate color schemes, so I was thinking this Astrotrain would be for them. I kind of understand that, because I would have preferred Classics Megatron have the G1 deco being released by TakaraTomy.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

I realize he may not be an awesome figure, but to me that paint job looks good enough that I just placed my order.

Starscream should've had a blue nosecone tip and the front half of the train on Astrotrain should've at least been alternating purple and grey stripes not purple and white.
However, I love their take on Classics Megatron over Hasbro's colors but with a third kid on the way I can't shell out that extra cost when I already have Hasbro's Classics Megatron.
Really? Shows how good my memory is. And the sad part is that I watch my G1 dvd's with my 5 year old twin boys all the time. I should've known that!

Collection Count: Just enough G1 & Classics to make this look good!
