Heh, well, the subject isn't quite a lonely as the title might implicate.

The question is, how do you partake in the enjoyment of your collection.

Most of us are in our late teen years or somewhere in the 20-35 range, so we probably aren't acting out massive toy battles in our living room. (and if you are, I'd bet your girlfriend does not approve on account of her not existing :P )

So, spending as much as we do to create these TF temples, how do you go about enjoying your work?

I find myself taking little museum trips, now you have to understand, I have a TF room...my den is basically converted for toy storing purposes. All the same, I'll go in and just take a long look at each shelf, remembering where or how I got the figure and questioning if I can ever fit any more in the room...

Other times, I'll spend a week or two rearranging things, just to do it in my spare time. This also gives me an opportunity to pack some stuff up for a while and display other items that have not been out in some time.

I also really enjoy getting to show my collection to someone for the first time. I usually wait until the person has visited a few times and then I give them the ole', "Hey, check out my comic collection (like 10 trade paper books...). Oh, yea those, I have some Transformers as well.."

How's it work at your place?

Mine are all in my room, where I spend most of my time when Im in the house. They all *should* be neatly displayed, but unfortunetly my cat smelt a mouse and no tf would stand in her way... I must get round to standing em up again...

Anyway, I normally have half a dosen or there abouts sitting on my desk, that get regualrly transformed, normally the newest ones. But if a see a tf I fancy trasnforming on my shelves, then he'll join the desk crew for a while too.

I constantly mess with my newer Transformers, but I tend to mess with the smaller, easier to transform guys more. You would think 20th Prime and the alts. would get more fiddeling than the Energon Auto Deluxes, but they actually don't.

Other ways of taking enjoyment is just having the the ability to take a figure off the shelf and transform it.

I spent some quality time last night, actually, and boy was it great!
After a rough stretch at work it's nice to take some time with things you enjoy. I started out by giving some recent acquisitions a good look over, transforming and what not. Then I decided to put some over-displayed figures away, and in the process looked for some that might look nice around the room and some I had forgotten about. Nothing is more fun than sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by my plastic army and their spring loaded arsenal and musing on how I came to possess them. Took out my Armada Nemesis Prime and posed him on the desk, ready to shoot it out with Classics Magnus for pretender Prime supremecy. Found some old Gundam figures and recollected about how those figures got me back into collecting. Pondered if there is an easy and effective way to keep figures from becoming overly dusty. All in all, a fabulous evening.

I have some set up in neat and tidy display cases or on decent little shelves. If I'm feeling figity I'll transform a few or re-arrange the display. Depends on my mood really. I'm currently building a shed behind my house that I will be using as a rec area and as a place to display my collection. That way I don't nerd up the joint when I have people over and if I feel it's all good, then maybe I'll show them my little hobby. :P

TF Room here too. I feel fortunate that my wife allows me the option of having a place to display the bulk of them.

However, there are other displays in the normal hosting/sitting area too. My alts. and BTs have some shelves in our living room...

Exactly how do I spend time with them? Well, when I get new ones is when I spend most of my time with them. I have to rearrange and figure out how things will fit in displays.

I have shelves that are 'open air', and shelves that are enclosed glass.

I recently decided I needed to make some more room for TFs in there, and thus, put away most of my Energon figs, and then next I'll work on putting away most of my Cybertron figures, minus my favorites of course, or those that are good G1 homages.

Putting them away is half the fun. Alt mode is usually the most solid mode, thus the best to store them in, so I get to transform them all again (some have not been transformed hardly at all).

Otherwise, I will make time to sometimes sit in there and just look, and reflect on how much money I have spent, how much enjoyment it brings me, and the origins of some of my first figures.

Sharing it is fun though. I like sharing it with other collectors (PQP), my nephews, and my wife...

Fun times... 8) [/list]

well I only have three shelves at the moment for display. Shelves 2 and 3 are for some of the more recent stuff and is in bot mode and crammed in as tight as possible. Shelf 1 is above my desk and generally has my most recent or favorite additions. Right now it has a classics battle going on with a few other bots to fill the ranks. I usually fiddle with the display every two weeks. Friends when they come over want to look at the display to see what's changed.

Now I just need to get my hands on some pink acrylic cubes for an energon stockpile.

Ditto for my Cybertron Thundercracker tail fins. He now looks like his back end is being sucked into a vortex.

Since my wife bought me two display cases for my birthday, I've set up and displayed my entire G1 collection, Alts and Classics. I thought the cases would go farther, but sadly my whole BW, BM, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and small Universe collections are still packed away... I'll bring those out to rummage through every now and again to relive the highlights from the series.

Like many others, newer figures are displayed prominently for a while, and then usually stored or put in with their respective series. I wish I had an entire room to display them all, though. Our office is housing the two cases currently, but there's no more room for more. I'll be putting up shelves in the near future for my Alts to make room for some other series, though.

I always enjoy my...EHEM...kids collection. They always bring my back to there age, 6 and 9. We have huge battles and I love it. I love having 2 mini me's!!

We have over 100 figs. Lucky bastards I only had six total when I was there age. I was deprived as a child. So I have no problem getting TF's for them. As for myself I need to get 4 to be happy G1 ratchet(my first TF ever) and MP Prime, Starscream and Megs. If I ever get those I would be done. For me at least. I will buy them for my little guys for as long as they want them.

We had a battle last saturday. It was Cybertron Starscream, Armada Unicron who rewired Primus and Energon Omega Supreme's circuit's. The 4 giant TF's against 50 of the finest TF's from both faction's to stop this evil. Cybertron Optimus and Megatron we're general's. And we had Cybertron defense hotshot and scattershot training new recruits. We had Red Alert run the infirmary. We lost alot of good men that day.

The only way to defeat the Titans was to find the temple of the Ancient's. Only an ancient (reissue Ricochet) can use the power of the matrix to finish this war. This war lasted for 2 hours. Man was that fun! I will never forget that day with them and I hope they never forget it either. And that is how I enjoy my....EHEM their TF's.

I typically have my TF "Shrine" where I place the bulk of my collection in either one room or in the office closet. I also have a few around my computer desk to fiddle with while my computer is rendering, I'm on the phone or talking with someone. Right now I am finishing up my thesis and am staying at my parents so the bulk of my collection is in storage. I can't wait to get out of here and get my collection united for once.

At home, I got a bunch of 'em in a pretty nice cabinet that has lights. I don't like bright overhead lighting, I usually prefer turning on lamps, and stuff. Sometimes I'll just turn it on and bask in its glory.

At school though, I live in a pretty tiny room, so I can't fit my collection here, nor would I want to, as I don't want things stolen or destroyed. Usually when I drive back home, I'll trade a few TFs back and forth, having most in my room at home and a couple in my appartment for a month or two, before I decide to drive back home for a weekend and get some different ones.

Currently, I got MP Prime on my desk with a few assorted G1 reissues on my dresser.

Generally, when I'm stressed, I'll fiddle with them, and transform them back and forth every once and a while.

I get enough strange looks from my toys already, and if I actually had all out battles, people would think I'm insane. Still, I'd like to make a few stop motion movies of them, but I don't really have the time. In the basement I have some old model train tables I inherited from my grandfather that would make for pretty cool dioramas.

Call me nuts, but I think I actually prefer G1, G2 and other figures that don't have a lot of articulation and steps to transform. Alternators are awesome to look at, but they're not so fun to transform.

Most G1 guys on the other hand, you pretty much flip out some arms, some legs and a head, maybe stick a part on or two and you're done. I personally don't care for really complex transformations. RiD Omega Prime is probably the most nightmarish transformer ever in that regard. I don't even know how it can be a kids' toy, as it always falls apart and even an adult has trouble figuring out has to transform it.

This small but beautiful paragraph illustrates just perfectly how and why Transformers is a great hobby for collectors, players and sharers. Great story, osiricon.

I'm one of those collectors that admires his collection and rearranges from time to time. I also fidlle with different ones now and then.

My wife already threatened to sell my entire collection if she came home and found me actually playing with them. You know, acting out a battle, cartoon episode or something. :P
