welcome to Seibertron.
WARNING: SITE CONTAINS NUTS!!!
ahahaha, i finally get to do it.
anyways, are you collecting G1's only are do the more recent toylines appeal to you? you should look at the Classics line, they are G1 homages and they're still available for pretty good prices too. they have an updated version of Astrotrain which i'm sure you will enjoy, and also the best Bumblebee ever to come out of production.

I could not agree more. Some of the figures can be tad spendy. I probably got one of the rarest Autobots of G1. Sometimes, you have to be patient.

If you want to stay G1 orientated, I'd say check out the "Encore" line of figures from Japan, they will set you back a bit of money, but are perfect G1 re-issues.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

G1 is quite expensive.. and since it's been 20 yrs since they've been released, it's going to be hard to get them mint. If you're trying to start a collection.. i'd start with toys right now.

Hi,
Welcome to Seibertron!
Any of the seekers, Starscream etc, or soundwave are recommended for the cons. As far as Bots are concerned I'd say Prime or any of the mini bots, and any character from the movie or any of the autobot cars really.
Aside from that...
Are you totally new to collecting Transformers or collecting in general? If so be careful about buying G1 figures. There have been many reissues done including astrotrain. Reissues are fine but I just want you to know that people may try to pass off re-issues as original. It can be tricky to detect originals especially if you're looking on ebay. Just educate yourself as much as possible before making any major purchases.

very good point about the G1 figures. But if you do not mind if it is a reissue that is fine but be aware of it.

get the Reissues or the Classics. both of these are wonderful for any collector, though the Reissues are much more of display pieces than actual toys to be played with.
