Struck my last nerve
- Weapon: No Weapon
I was searching ebay a little bit ago and did a search under bumblebee and up came all these concept camaro and the two pack evolution of a hero target exclusives. What hit me wrong was the day of the movie release I went to Wally World and got the special 2 dvd set to open and watch and headed off to Target. I wanted to get the Bumblebee two pack, the transforming dvd case and the transforming gift card for my collection. Well, my local Target didnt have the transforming dvd case for some reason so I headed to the next closest one (20 - 30 min. depending on gas pedal pressure
). I got to that Target they had the case and headed to checkout lane. The guy in front of me wanted that deal where if you bought the movie and two pack bumblebee you got a $5 transforming gift card for free. Here there was only one 2 pack bumblebee left cause some guy came in and bought 12 of them at a one time. When I heard that it just stuck a nerve and then looking today and seeing all those 2 packs on ebay ranging from 24.99 - 34.99 plus shipping with the vhtf, rare, soldout in the title. If it wasnt for guys like that they probably wouldnt be hard to find for the true TF fan. Some poor fan probably went to that Target that day to get one and couldnt because that ***hole bought them all. Now if he/she really wants it now they have to pay double which in my eyes is BS. Anyway just had to vent and wife wants to go out

That really ticks me off too. I'm okay if someone wants two of the same Transformer. Heck, sometimes I need three of one type for various family members (we don't share our toys too well!). If you want to sell one or two on eBay, I can see why. But TWELVE? That irritates me to no end. I'm sorry this sucked the fun out of your day.

I'll agree ... 12 at once shouldn't be allowed unless there are ample amounts. It would tick me off, too!
With that said, are you seriously considering buying from an online scalper already? Have some patience for pete's sake. They'll be around. Even if it's months from now, just be patient.
I've wasted enough money to know that everything will make its way around if you stick with the collecting long enough.
Maybe you just need to learn this lesson the hard way like some others did? Anywho ... good luck.

that b*tch! that's not cool man, my mom went in the morning and there was a line, so she waited, but everryone didn't buy 12, she bought 2 one for me one for my cousin but that was it.... target is stupid like that sometimes, they should just limit it... my target had limit of 3 per customer.

Dumbass scalpers like that really piss me off. I've been searching for the reissue Soundwave, and when the local TRU got some in, I went on my lunch break to get them, only to find out that in the 10 minutes it took me to drive, some idiot came in and bought every one they had.

I am not to bothered by it. It frustrated me on one level, but what about our poor friends in Canada and Britain? Someone has to put the figures on Ebay. Price of living in a free market, I am quite sure that all of you would complain if your gas was rationed to reduce price. So what if a scalper makes a few bucks? In the grand scheme of things it is better for everyone as sales equal more molds and figures produced.

Yeah, those guys buying up all the concept Bees and then selling them on eBay for AUD$60-100 are completely in the right.

I'm sorry if I'd rather pay retail price than paying the extortionate prices on eBay.

No one in the UK with any sense is buying the Prime/'Bee pack off ebay. You can pick it up from Argos for £20. Must be those bloody Aussies.

reminds of a time a few months ago when a dude started a thread and posted a pic of 8 Concept BBs for all the members here to see...almost all jumped on him (including meh) and after further investigation by the Mods, that member actually had a double-account...so bye-bye, Seibertron.com. LOL.
if only we could do the same to real-world scalpers...

Oh, I'm all for a free market. After all, Capitalism rules, but when scalpers are buying up every fraking figure is sight, and then charging up to $100 a figure, there' is something wrong.

Ramrider wrote:Nice theory, except the sales don't make any difference to Hasbro, as they all would've sold anyway. It's not like they're going to be getting the extra money to go toward toy development costs...
The faster they sell them, the more they can sell. If a toy sells out in under a week, the store will try to get more in. It also creates an atmosphere where people are buying them without hesitation, and buying figures they might've otherwise skipped, just in case they sell out, and there is no second chance.
The only danger is that all this speculation creates an artificially inflated demand, and the market may become overheated. This may lead to overproduction, and then massive sales after Christmas. But that's not a bad thing for collectors.

In another discussion board, same thing happened where someone bought 20 copies of the transforming DVD from a Target at 8 AM in the morning. I thought that was stupid of them.

If it's any consolation to ya I'm sure most scalpers lead very lonely, empty lives. If they have the time to hit up all these stores buying toys before everyone else I'm guessing their work/social lives are pretty non-existent!
Chin up, Transformer junkies. We all get lucky every now and again, just gotta be patient.
Oh yeah, F&%% Scalpers!
