TF's you told yourself you wouldn't buy....then did!
Just curious, i found myself guilty of doing this last night. I'm not a fan or the leader class movie Prime and have always passed on the guy (even when on sale at my workplace AND an employee discount on top), i just never cared for the figure for whatever reason. I had seen the nightwatch version in pics online but again told myself i would never buy that...BUT! when i saw it at work in person
i was unable to resist. I'm sure i'm not the only one who has done this so please, share my friends.

Leader Megatron - didn't like the bot mode in pictures
Deluxe Barricade - didn't like the shoulders until I realised they could be folded into shoulder pads (perhaps he could be reissued in grey / cream as 80's Power Dresser Barricade?)
Movie Ratchet - vomit green just doesn't appeal. Shame the toy itself is just so damn cool
Ultimate BB - too expensive. Cool as hell, though
20th Anniversary Prime - as Ultimate BB
Movie Swindle - I'm still completely perplexed as to why I did actually give in and buy that one. Maybe I just needed a fix and I already had the decent ones

Movie Ironhide. IU passed on the 1st and 2nd versions, then I saw the Premium and he just looked too good. He actually looks like an Alternator to me. His transformation is complex and I actually had to
use his instructions to transform him. Now if his head was so stupid looking.

Movie Allspark Powered Landmine-Saw his robot mode pics and thought "Man, that guy looks creepy...definitely not buying him!" And what did I do in Grantham last week? I freakin' picked him up on a spur of the moment thing! Dang. Oh well, I love him now anyway.
Alternators Wheeljack-I'd seen a few reviews of this guy passing him off as very hard to transform and bits popping off and what have you, so I generally avoided him...Well, somehow I changed my mind and got him from Argos. He's cool, but right now he doesn't seem to hold together in his vehicle mode very well.
That's all for now, because I can't think of any others I bought when I told myself not to....Bye!

I also swore off Landmine at one point along with any movie figures that weren't actually IN the movie(with the exception of Arcee and Cliffjumper simply for the g1 references). I'm very glad i grabbed Landmine and have this site to thank, i read so much good things about the figure i had to see for myself! Truly a magnificent mold in my opinion, imagine this bad-boy in voyager or dare i say leader class

Movie Voyager Megatron- nice robot mode, plus I got him new for only $13
Energon Optimus Prime- decided that his huge gut didn't bother me (much like my wife has), and I like his mix-and-match combiner mode
G1 Powermaster Prime/Apex Armor (God Ginrai)- didn't really like brickformers until this guy came along, he's awesome!
Beast Wars Optimal Optimus- 4 huge modes of day-glo-colored win!
Cybertron Metroplex- dorky alt mode isn't that bad, plus 2 great robot modes
Energon Scorponok- discovered the high level of mechanical details in the mold, and some creative non-official modes too. Plus he's a big bad-ass
Movie Starscream- didn't care for the mold at first, now I have all 3
Energon Omega Supreme- not sure why I passed on this one in stores, but I just got one used and he's awesome!
G1 Ultra Magnus and Metroplex- never thought I could afford decent ones, but I've gotten lucky on both counts recently- yay!
There are prob more, but I can't remember not liking them.

Armada. The whole line with a few exceptions. I started with Optimus and Megatron & Starscream and that's all I needed. Then I started the Search for Unicron. I hit 6 stores on a DAILY BASIS for more than a month and a half. After a while, I got tired of leaving empty handed so I started picking up a few things here and there a few weeks later I'm leaving a TRU 20 miles from home with a Minicon Dark Sabre set and I realize I forgot to even check for Unicron.
Now all I have left are Leader Optimus, Deluxe Optimus & Nemesis, Megatron and the 3 Seeker variants and a few Minicons and of course Unicron. The rest went to eBay or my nephews.

Movie Leader Premium Megatron
I didn't care for the Leader (or Voyager, for that matter) Megatron in the slightest and the pictures of it didn't look different enough to make it worthwhile, but when I saw it on the shelf and got to look at it close up I really dug it. The new paintjob makes him look far more impressive and realistic compared to the campy, cheesy deco of the previous release.
Now Optimus Prime...that's another story. The premium doesn't set my heart aflutter like the Nightwatch deco does.

Cybertron Scorponok. I was looking for an Ultra Class Decepticon, namely Scourge. I couldn't find him, so I decided to get Scorponok instead. Originally though, I thought Scorponok didn't look very articulate and interesting. But once I took him out of the box, I relized he's pretty cool.

My collecting started late last summer with the Robot Heroes.
I told myself I wasn't going to buy any of the Movie line, and then started buying Classics off of ebay.
Now I have a bunch (30) of the Movie figures.
All I have left is Deep Space SS, and maybe Big Daddy and Grindcore.

The Movie line. I never really cared for movie line toys or figs. but had to have them! They're Tfs and my hobby so i picked up mostly the whole line. Plus they give me something to do until the Universe and Animated lines come out and rest my wallet from the G1s for a while.

alternator/binaltech
i watch the gallery from seibertron like a hundred times and its really seems not appealling to me. its dullest tf ever, i mean look at grimlock its horrible at first sight,
Then 1 seller ask me do i want a rodimus alternator, its coming out in 2 weeks. i reply him to get me 2. After like 1 week he told me ther is a late shipment. i starting to surf for rodimus kiss player picture, i starting to like it a bit, I starting to get frustrated, i got to the retail shop myself, its still not yet in, i went again, nope, the seller must have con me. i try for i last time i ther it is, bunch of ppl waiting in his shop, i am truly shock, alternator can get ppl to wait wait wait and wait, i got ther and at the front of the queue, i finally got 1, rodimus alternator! My first reation was like wow......Its worth all the petrol, wait, time to get it.
Now i got 20++ alternator/binaltech....... These are killer for me, i seriously think its junk at the beginning. but after addicted to those transformation and cool posses it may have and slick car got me into it. I am broke and happy.

I thought he looked **** anyway, I just wasn't interested, and he still hasn't warmed on me in the slightest. One of the worst figures in the whole line, IMO. In the bottom 5, easily.
Funnily enough it's a toy I only saw once. I only got it because I didn't want to go home empty handed. I never saw another of it again at retail. I don't know if I should feel lucky or cursed.

Movie Swingle, Thundercracker are the two that come to mind though I know there have been more. I generally don't regret my purchases as I tend to like anything Transformers. I know Animated isn't out yet but already I'm changing my mind on things I wasn't going to get from that line.

Re: TF's you told yourself you wouldn't buy....then did!
I can run a list till the end of time on this one. Its an odd adiction.
Currently I'm buying all the early Beast Wars guys that I skipped on, after market makes for a suck on that one, but I think I'm only about 15 away from having one of each mold, so game on with that one!
I don't know what it is nowadays, but there's something exciting about the first time you see a figure on a shelf, it's like HEY I FOUND IT, THAT THING I SAW!!!
Then I buy it.
I think I do so cause I learned a while ago that sometimes the side figures are some of the best. And of course, pay now, or pay more later.
Take Animated, I'm not that fond of most of the figures, but I'm still using the HTS code to preorder them. They won't be opened though, and no, BulkHead is not part of that order.
With the pay now or pay more later concept. I figure if I realy don't like them, I figure wait a couple years and be on the profiting end of that.

Ant car larger than a basic as they look out of place with G1 Prowl and co.
Next thing I know, I've got Classics Hot Rod and Movie Barricade and I'm waiting for Universe Prowl and Sunstreaker.
Mini-cons. Have most of them and yet still don't like them. If only they weren't so cheap to buy.

The list goes on & on but the ones I regret are Movie Voayger Megs, Titanium and Classics Rodimus, I just wanted some new transformers and I had a gift card to TRU. Traded the Classics Rodimus, but I still have the others if anyone wants 'em.

G1 Jetfire. Wasn't my favourite character, and it's not now, but yesterday I've been in a convention and the currently AFA-collector started an auction for his MIB Complete figures... It have gone from about 1/2 cent to up to 169 dollars, and I was the highest bidder!
I first thinked that Classics Jetfire was a perfect Jetfire, and I won't be able to afford a real G1, but this thing is about 2 times as big, and has perfect alt. modes! Everybody must have one.
