The Energon Gestalts

Postby Bugbite » Sat Oct 20, 2007 8:14 pm

Today I bought Superion and Bruticus for 15 bucks. I'll tell you those guys are next to impossible to stand, after some leaning I finally got them to stand.

Does anyone here that owns those suckpuppies have any free standing tricks, I would really appreciate it.

I have them and I'm seriously thinking "Super Glue???" I was pretty disappointed with them, they are currently in a box until I can figure a good way to get them to stand up!!!! :-x

I feel your pain and frustration!

They just suck there nothing you can do to get them to stand and the construction vehicle one is the worst because not only does he not stand but his combiner head isn't dead center when in giant robot mode.

Are they the Knock offs? You could go down to a art store and buy some of those figure stands that they sell.Their about a buck or two.

I've got both Superion and Bruticus and my advice would be to use the thinner bots as the legs.

So, for Superion, use Treadshot and Skyshadow as the legs.

For Bruticus, use the copters as his legs. You can use both tanks for his legs (looks better IMO b/c the copter energon hands are sweet), but Bruti ends up a bit spread-eagled. Attaching one of the tanks sideways helps him stand more easily, but he doesn't look nearly as good.

This helps, but getting them to stand is always a challenge. These figs are a perfect example of "so close, yet so far away".

I had mine in a fight set up for a while. They were grappling with each other so it looked cool and they could lean on each other for support.

Or leave them in their uncombined form b/c the individual bots just kick butt on their own. $15 was a fantastic deal IMO.

As far as the best way to combine them, I usually do the two Helicopters for Bruticus's legs - they're thinner allowing for more stability, if you transform the tanks correctly (seperate the treads from the chassis as if you were putting them in robot mode) you get arms with spectacular articulation and a cool cape thing, and the Tank hands can actually hold stuff.

With Devastator, either way works so long as you keep him symmetric. I prefer the bulldozers as the legs though - it lowers his center of gravity and they just look better - and the cranes as arms - like the tanks they can actually be articulated, and the crane claws give him effectively a second set of arms.

Superion usually remains dissociated into his constituent parts.

Bruticus stands really well when you can rest him against a wall/side of a display shelf etc.

Thats about the only way I have found to keep him upright.

rats, this is terrible...i've seen Superion parts around here and was thinking of completing this Energon gestalt (the combined form looks cool, plus all those A-1s really are tempting) but after reading this thread...

I have Energon Superion, Devastator, Bruticus and Classics Devastator and I've never had any problems getting them to stand up at all. I like them, and the only standing problem I can think of is that they all need to stand a little spread legged or otherwise they'll be lopsided. I've never had any trouble with any of them though....

I have Dev. and Brut. and haven't had any troubles either. What types of poses are you going for? They aren't the most stable of TF's...

No, not by a long shot. Most if not all the Energon combos are unstable in one way or another, but it sounds like only mine are capable of actually standing on their own.

I have no problems standing them.

The only thing close to unstable I have is Takara's Superion's chest not locking in quite so well(but that can be helped by using the small robot head instead of the large robot head), the Hasbro version is fine.

Oh, and the helicopter's feet sometimes fall off, but I never use them for legs. The tanks are better to use as legs if you just fold the tread piece on the inner part of the leg to the back.

Same with me. Superion's chest isnt' so good but he can stand on his own with the two arms raised for shooting. The other two stand on their own also but just a normal standing pose. I got mine used so I'm missing a few parts (Bruticus' head, one helicopter leg, etc.) but so far they've held up.

I was beginning to think I was the only Not having problems standing the gestalts.

Except for Superion for the already mentioned unstable chest. Bruticus and Constructicon stand fine.

I can even swap legs amongst them and have no problems standing them up, even in action poses.

I prefer the Terradive/Skyshadow, Blight/Kickback and Wideload/Duststorm molds as feet. While the others make up the arms.

It makes me think that we might own the only quality Energon combiners ever made. Like I must have the only Titanium Jetfire and Soundwave that don't suffer from all the problems people talk about.
