The Liege Maximo?
I don't really get about the Liege Maximo in the final chapter in Transformers Generation 2 comics. What was his purpose. Is he some sort of entity or something?

The Liege Maximo was created to be the "Anti-Prime" He is meant to be the beacon of Evil as the Primes are meant to be the beacon of good.
In the G1 Marvel Comics, the transformers Universe was one that required a balance of good and evil so the Leige was made to allow Evil to counterbalance the good that the Prime's were meant to create.
He is also apparently where all Decepticons, Megatron included are descended from.
He was only ever seen at the end of the G2 comics as such:

He has no place in the IDW Comics though, as the Autobots and Decepticons were created as a result of Political unrest and Civil War. To appear in the IDW comics, he would need a major overhaul to his character and back-history.

I personally think they need to make a proper ending for hte G2 comic, like, redo issue 12 without the "The End", and keep going, you know what I mean?

I'd buy it if it were done.
But it would probably be a Marvel line, and after what they did with their Man vs. Machine crossover, I don't want them handling Transformers again.

There was, "Ascending" or "Ascension" or something starting with "A". It was about the Leige wanting to join Unicron and Primus on the "god" Stage.
Was never approved by Hasbro though, so it's technically not cannon, and it isn't an easy thing to come by, nor is it well known so I left it out.

Wouldnt say a MAJOR overhaul, he is a demi god character so its plauseable he has an inflated sense of his own being and was/is around on cybertron.
Megatron was created and turned to the ways of evil after being ill treated, whose not to say LM wasn't pulling the strings there, yes i know its all a long stretch of the imagination but not impossible?
Still i think he is best left out of the current Universe as he is pretty much tied into G2 and that most certainly IS difficult neigh impossible to retcon in with ease...

With furman writting some of the new stuff, and if it continues ,He will most likely be brought into the new universe.Till yesterday when I picked up Megatron origins #4 I was unclear if there was a Primus in IDW's G1 TF universe but not I know there is.If theres a Primus then there's a "original 13 Transformers" and The Liege Maximo was one of the Original 13.

I'ld like to see were Furman was going with some of his G2 ideas myself.
If Leige shows up when Furman starts talking about the original 13, it would be just prime with me... and tron

But was he truly a member of the original 13? I mean I guess he must be if he was created at the same time as Prima (or whoever it was that was the first Prime), but it was only ever mentioned that only 1 member of the 13 turned away from Primus and joined with Unicron... Surely a being of near pure evil would side with Unicron...
I know that I am mixing continuities here, but the Primus creating the Original 13 story is something that has had very little changed over the course of the years.
Guess we will have to wait to find out, won't we!

Actually what is said is that only one of the 13 turned his back on Primus at the beginning. But others like The Liege Maximo could have followed suit milloins of years later. And one can also believe that a "being of near pure evil" as you put it might not side with Unicron and would want to replace him as the God of evil. But this is all conjecture....speeking of mixing continuities even in Furmens Ultimate Guide they hint to the idea that characters like Alphatrion and Macaderm are members of the original 13 but in that book it all-so states that the original 13 were all destroyed in the first battle with Unicron....what was he smokin

The true question is, "what wasn't he smoking?"
As you said it's all a jumble, and conjecture, and I don't think we were ever meant to know the "correct" version of the Transformers history, if we did, it wouldn't be as much fun!

Because it fit what his over inflated ego thought was the right universe. And he was insane

Leonardo wrote:Because it is canon and overrides all previous continuities!
Even that would have been in error because the book its self contrasdiced its self from page to page

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Really? I thought it would be "Run/giggitygiggitygiggity.exe?" I thought "Run/Boomchickwawa" was the trigger to have a Transformer quote a crappy deoderant commercial?
