And then Amelie mentionned G1 Guzzle. Yeah, pretty rough that for it to work you have to scrape the robot mode. But the movie line gave us an awesome update so that we dont need to anymore



Seriously, avoiding the movie lines make you miss out on some awesome gems. This guy and ROTF Bludgeon to me are as good as it gets for Classic updates to G1 toys.

Oh and while the order of the list is obviously debatable, when you get to having to rank these terrible toys I looked at it as comparing how bad they were to their lines. Like Titanium GiJoe Megatron is the worst of a line that is overall pretty terrible (though I think it shouldnt be totally ignored, I like the Fallen). But Animated Voyager Megatron is from one of the most screen accurate and innovative TF lines of all time. And I have such a hard time believing that the same teams that came up with voyager Optimus also thought up this guy. At least Titanium Megatron has a distinctive alt mode. This guy doesnt, and its not even like the one we see on the show.

I just found him more of a glaring insult to the line than Titanium Megatron. He's more upsetting since the people doing it clearly knew better, but thats personal.

Also, I am really happy no one mentionned MP Megatron so far. I always admired the work and found both modes quite imposing in their own way.

Way back, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in 2005, 2006. Michael Bay had input in those designs, he was the Director, don't let it fool you that he had no say into what we see.

Bay's involvement was probably initial ideas and then feedback, but Steven Spielberg was also there and allowed it all to happen. Bay is a symptom of the movies not the cause, but being a public figure I guess makes him the big target.

@kanabat you may mock the rescue force but it's still more official uses of the liokaiser molds then other places in the west got. Hooray for g1.5

Also that macdonalds toy, now I know that macdonalds toys are bad by nature but that's just...really bad.

As questionable as those Minicons are, they make great buddies for PCC Grimstone (and AoE Slog), but aftermarket prices are utterly insane. I paid $6 for Rav way back when, which I thought was kinda crazy, but now....

Yeah, those aftermarket prices But they have been reissued so the molds are easy to get. I got to experience them through the recent AOE Evolution packs at TRU.

After reading your arguments and also watching the thread for transformers garbage, I do agree. Now with regards to your question: 5 of those predate my involvement with transformers and 4 predate my actual collecting of them, so I can only speak for Airachnid in the list. I always thought animated Megs had some sweet toys and the legion Jazz was oh so lazy, plus I never got the power core combiners cause A) not much money and B) I didn't like the aesthetic of those. and I have watched the reviews and that doubleclutch is so hated it's almost funny.

So I can't say I handled the toys on the list to agree with you, but the arguments and the reviews I have watched convince me this is a good list

So does this mean there's going to be a best list in the near future?

Also anyone ever thought of doing a yearly list looking over the past year for the wost/disappointing tfs?

Wrong, it was Hasbro who insisted on the look for Optimus to resemble Optimus. Michael Bay is the reason Optimus got his lame flames.

Hasbro insisted that Optimus must be red and blue, with windows on his chest and the head look the way it did.

Bay insisted on it being a long nose truck to get the height he wanted and the blue flames.

Well the best of list is what every other list is about, but split amongst alt modes, eras and characteristics. So some of the best Transformers ever are featured in the Best Helicopter list (which has a movie toy as the number 1 toy and rightfully so), Best Tank list (also featuring a movie toy as number 1) and best G1 toy updates list.

So pretty much the best list is about a hundred or more toys long and split amongst all the lists

And who cares about who designed the movie characters, in the end, it wont change what we feel about the designs, it only changes who we blame for it.

Also I feel that the movie designs are different but that's not a bad thing, I mean who honestly thought they were getting G1 toon in live action? Movieverse us now it's own thing and rests comfortably next to other styles like aligned, beast machines, unicron trilogy and all the rest.

Also, for the question about making a worst of each year, I feel we did tackle it in the year end discussion. Mine for last year was Breakdown, who I dislike much more than Motormaster (who I dont mind as much as most). My biggest dissapointment though is Roadrage/Tracks. Not garbage by any means, but a far cry from what I would expect in the masterpiece line. There were sacrifices made for toon accuracy that feel forced to me. And I dont feel the 50$ I spent on it was well spent.

As for 2014, the worst is on this list, First Edition Prime, especially for the money being asked for him.

Worse of 2013 is between Voyager Predaking and Voyager Blitzwing, I'm not sure.

Worse of 2012 was airachnid (followed by FOC Ravage)

Hasbro had a little input but Bay did ask for a more Optimus like design.

I agree with those end of year rundowns though I own voyager predaking, though I want to replace him with the upscaled commander cyber verse one they did as it looks far better.

Dmax@ couldn't you track down the ravage that came with universe 2.0 hound and use that one as the lost light ravage?

Prime voyager Predaking is not bad. However, that "cyberverse upscale" Predaking blow the previous one out of the water. For me, it's one of the BEST TF of that year!

I never bought it but I've seen it in store once. The mold is actually BETTER than the regular BH voyager Optimus. However, it have these very ugly bright green parts all over.



A Prime Optimus that people generally hate Weaponizer Optimus. I own it and I really love that greentimus. The transformation is simple and effective, and the overall figure is not so bad looking.
