This figure makes me tempted to join the TFCC, but I have always wondered if the price was worth it. (I'm U.S.)

Mmm... I definitely would agree that the head's not as good as the rendered portrayal, but I can't tell if it's bad yet.
What I will say, is that some additional paint, or even just a strategic wash, would really help bring out some of the detail. It seems kind of bland as-is.

It's to bad because the layered look of the renders turns to mush, and it kinda starts looking like a stock stylized prime head; which granted Lio-Convoy' was, but it was more distinctive in the render. Also the paint's a bit off in that it only seems to come this close to the edge, and then stops leaving a noticeable bit of bare plastic.

See that's the thing - this could be a production sample. The paint apps on the crest are also not applied with great care, which makes me think what arrives in our mailboxes might be somewhat improved in that department.
Also, per Sabr, the picture quality...

That Lio truck mode reminds me a bit of the Energon series Rodimus from the TRU Prowl/Rodimus set with the B&W law enforcement paint deco. Just a wee bit. Don't know if it's just me that sees it or if anyone else made the connection too.
I'm a cigar chomping, Energon guzzling, crotchety old bot that's tough as nails, two days older than dirt, can out grouch Ironhide, out-complain Huffer, leave Bluestreak speechless with a single glare and make Grimlock back down in a stare-off. If you're nice, and extremely lucky, I may only tell you to go blow it out your exhaust pipe!

That would fit Club Lio Convoy's redeco Nova Prime more with his blacks and blues.

may have to swap out a Rodimus head on one for a custom. Checkpoint was a great new character and deco. Too bad we haven't seen any Rodimus repaints like that since.

Lio Convoy looks really sweet. I can't wait to get him in and check him out. No TFSS for me this time around but TFCC figure I like at least. Plus that G2 Starscream is looking way better than I had expected.

Not sure what to think of Lio Convoy... A free figure is a free figure, I guess. I'd rather have Nova Prime, really. I just hope the deco works a little better on him.

I must ask, why does everyone want Redwing so damn bad? Wasn't he literally a 1-frame generic in the cartoon?

He was a generic in the Machine wars Club comic, which makes him super special awesome. Hell, Red Wing went unnamed in his first appearance. It wasn't until a couple weeks later that Fun Pub, was pestering on and offline from one fan, to name the character. Pete Sinclair wasn't even aware (or at least feigned ignorance) of his existence in "Termination" due to his extremely minor role and the number of other Seekers present within the story.

Nope. He was literally a no name generic in the BotCon 2013 comic. Not even from the cartoon. Just a background extra from that one comic of recent years.Delta Magnus wrote:I must ask, why does everyone want Redwing so damn bad? Wasn't he literally a 1-frame generic in the cartoon?
Only reason he got a name and identity was because a certain Seeker fanatic (and I mean that in the most positive light, Randy

I can jump in on that one... Because there has been every other color of the rainbow EXCEPT red. The completionist in all the seeker fans makes us itch and toss and turn at night because we don't have that one color!!
OH YEAH. And because hot darn it looks really good in that bold red color. So many of the original jets are really muted, dull colors. (brown-golds, gray, dark blue, burgundy, etc.) Having seen the jet in that color... and actually in the striking yellow/black SG Dirge colors ... they're some of the best colorings those molds have been given. I really hope they see the light of day just because of how the colors look.
Guessing that's Lanny with the club hard at work (?). Heh.

I get where you're coming from, but I'm a designer by trade... and highly attune to the likes of: tints, tones, value, chroma, saturation...
I guess what I'm saying is... while we do have a Pantone 1817 Thrust, I really would like to see a Pantone 193 Red Wing, because it would display nicely with all those neon and pastel colored Rain Makers.
