So... I'm trying to count the 31 number they reference:
TFCC: (10)
-(3) Botcon 2007 Thundercracker, Thrust, Dirge
-(1) G2 Ramjet
-(1) SG Thundercracker
-(3) Botcon 2013 Hotlink, Bitstream, Sunstorm
-(2) TFCC 3.0 Nacelle, G2 Starscream
Hasbro: (8)
-(3) Classics Starscream, Skywarp, Ramjet
-(2) Universe Starscream, Acid Storm
-(3) Generations Thrust, Dirge, Thundercracker
Takara: (13)
-(7) Henkei 6 regular seekers + Ghost Starscream
-(3) Seeker Aces 3-pack
-(3) Seeker Elites 3-pack
That makes 31... are there any others, or is that the complete list?

I feel trapped by it. I have a full squad of them, but they really are dated. I detest the idea of starting over with that group, but really wish they were bigger now that the idea of Classics have evolved.
I feel far more trapped by the MP Seeker mold. It's also from 2006 and even though they changed it a bit, its essentially the very same mold with the same problems.
You can't tell me the updated MP mold has the same issues of the Classics mold. You just can't. The only improvements on the MP mold I can imagine is a slight height boost, waste swivel, updated hands in the post-MP10 style, and maybe and a hinge at the bottom of the wing so that thin extension can fold up into the main wing body instead of sticking out. That sounds extensive, but when the Classics Seeker mold literally is overdue for an outright replacement, it's a stark difference.
Not the same issues, just more issues. The MP mold lacks stability in the chest area, and has a head that is too far back making it look totally disjointed from the rest of its body. Also the transformation is very fiddly with the nosecone and results in a clumsy backpack. That was not changed from the original 2006 mold.
While I see your point (and disagree with the head and transformation/backpack comments - most of the MPs, especially the cars, have awkward backpacks), I'm still not sure it's an apt comparison.
But hey, that's just me... and I'm coming off an MP Seeker high with the addition of an MP11 style Skywarp to the lineup.

Do the people who think Nacelle should be female also agree with the countries that made Shrapnel female for the same reason? I mean, if you're going to use that naming convention for one character you kinda have to do it for all of them right?
What are the rumors for the secret sub figure this time around? Any chance it could be Red Wing and this is just a feint from Fun Pub?

Official word (not a rumor) is that it's going to be made from a Generations Legends mold.Emerje wrote:What are the rumors for the secret sub figure this time around? Any chance it could be Red Wing and this is just a feint from Fun Pub?
Rumor is Nightracer from the Tailgate mold based on a cameo of said character in said body in the "A Common Foe" comic that featured five of the six main TFSS 3.0 figures (the sixth missing one was G2 Starscream, who instead was featured in Tornado's Facebook logs).

I cant see Hasbro using the mold any more unless the make TRU/Target/Walmart exclusives of the same old boring 6 seekers at some point. Maybe Takara might go as far as to do a cartoon accurate set of Rainmakers similar to the CHMS versions. But I dont see anything further.

Re: Transformers Collectors' Club Exclusives and Subscription Figures
When I saw the "Retire Classics Seeker Mold" headline, my brain immediately composed an eloquent rant about how an announced retirement should = a public domain mold to be KOed by everyone from CHMS on down until every fan who cares can buy it repainted into every last background Seeker from even the most obscure media...
...and then I actually read the tweet. Not sure how far in advance the club plans things, but in this context, the only thing definite in "no future plans" is that they won't be using it in Subscription 4.0. Hardly worth blowing out of proportion.
When this mold inevitably comes out of retirement, our first neo-classic Seeker should be the next sports-related TF: namely a Brett Favre homage. (Yes, I thought I was going to say Redwing too, living near Detroit) Then the Silverbolt Seeker seen running beside Cyclonus in 5 Faces of Darkness, which will seem appropriate after CW Silverbolt gets that redeco.
Consistency is victory, and no matter how tiresome any one mold can get, I HATE any attempt to entice me to re-buy the same handful of Seekers (and this applies to most core TF characters to a certain extent) in a new "better/updated" toy mold, be it a proper toy, or some cute blocky/vinyl/Mighty-Muggy format. I did that for Armada/-verse and the Titanium Tetra Jets, but when the Bayniverse broke me of completism, I vowed to never dance that dance with any mold other than THIS one. MP Seekers are nice, but they're never going to go too far outside the bounds of the standard six, even once official Coneheads exist, let alone do every background character and color-chart-swap. The Classics mold is the only one even halfway there, so it'd better keep going.
Forever.
By any means necessary.
And I've got a feeling it will.

It would be cool if E-Hobby did quality versions of their 3 seeker decos. Although they might not sell that well at E-Hobby prices since CHMS got the decos out years ago.

Re: Transformers Collectors' Club Exclusives and Subscription Figures
Sabrblade wrote:This Nacelle toy is a character whose origins are rooted in three separate sources.jogunwarrior wrote:What's the deal behind this character, is it something the club made up, and wheres the name come from?
First, his name comes from that of a Seeker who was in the Transformers: Exodus novel, in which he was part of a Seeker group with two others named Bitstream and Hotlink.
Second, his deco is based on a prototype for G1 Thrust that was seen in 1980's Takara catalogs prior to Thrust's release:
Thirdly, his character and identity come from the first episode of the G1 cartoon, in which four generic Seekers attacked Wheeljack and Bumblebee en route to Iacon:
One of these Seekers, the golden one, would later be given his own name and identity as Sunstorm years later. And then BotCon 2013 made a set of exclusives based on three of these four Seekers, in which Sunstorm was included and the other two were given the names "Bitstream" and "Hotlink", named after two of the Seekers from Exodus.
With the fourth Seeker way in the background not yet given a toy, and with two of the three Exodus Seekers given G1 counterparts, the Club saw fit to create a figure that would both complete the Exodus-named Seeker trio and complete the four-Seeker "Welcoming Committee" (as Wheeljack called them). But rather than make just another ordinary-looking Seeker, the Club decided to make this one special by modeling its deco after the very pretty proto-Thrust deco, which happened to have a blue Seeker body like that fourth background Seeker.
And, let's face it, the deco of that fourth Seeker as it was wouldn't have nearly been as pretty. Compare (second one from the left):
But, as for the differences in his appearance as this toy from his brief cartoon appearance, his bio refers to him having undergone some cosmetic changes after the Nemesis left Cybertron.
Thanks for the info, this is why I love this site!

I have a love hate relationship with this mold and I'm glad to see the CLUB retiring it. Personally I think the new legends mold is fantastic, and every seeker released thus far that's used it has been great.

The Club isn't vowing that they'll never ever use the mold ever again forever, they're just saying that they're done with it for the time being, and that they've currently got no more uses for it in their present plans for the future.

Re: Transformers Collectors' Club Exclusives and Subscription Figures
Maybe with enough chatter and petition, we can talk them into a Red Wing / SG Dirge set for sale through the store. I'd be down for it.
That said, in making a 'complete' list of the 31+... The CHMS versions add quite a few to the list. I recall they had their version of Rainmakers, alternate "toxic" rainmakers, Sunstorm in a couple colors (?), lavender generic seeker, various Starscreams... plus a few chrome versions.
Anyone have that complete list to contribute for trivia sake?

Ironically, though he's a SG Decepticon, he was eventually revealed to be secretly loyal to the evil SG Alpha Trion.
