Transformers Combiner Wars Devastator - So Big It Needs Its Own Thread
Re: Transformers Generations Devastator - So Big It Needs Its Own Thread
So it sounds like the new Devastator is is going to be made up of five constructions, if they are using voyagers and a leader class, like the rest of the combiner sets (4 small 1 large). I'd be more excited if he was going to be all voyager, cause then I would expect there to be all six of them. Still I want to see this thing before I give a full opinion.

Trypticon reissue, eh? I had this one when I was a teen - it was one of the only electronic 'walking' toys that would actually WALK over a carpeted surface. (every other toy would just kind of shuffle in place because they didn't have the weight, and couldn't generate the friction necessary to push themselves into motion)
This is of interest... though I'd REALLY be interested in a Generations remake of Trypticon. With modern tech and articulation, they could probably do wonders with it. Titan Metroplex can actually pose, unlike the G1 brick Metroplex. I'd pay for a Titan Trypticon....

IF the Leader size will be Hook, he will have a massive chest/shoulders and skinny torso. IF Long Haul will be Leader sized, he will have a normal chest/shoulders and a fat midsection. That is, if his combination follows the G1 combination. I wonder how they will make it work with 6 members instead of 5, especially with a Leader thrown in.
The box is supposed to be Metroplex-sized? If that's true, then I'm guessing he will come separated in the box, with each figure having its own little space. If he is as big as Metroplex when combined, then those are just bad proportions.
My fear is that he will be an oversized version of a PCC combiner. Good torso with gangly limbs.X wrote:The more info I hear about this new Devastator, the more I think its going to be a huge stand alone plastic pile of suck.

I would so much rather see a Titan-class Scorponok, but I don't know if the toy market right now is in the right place for a 2 foot tall purple, green and orange scorpion robot.

If it's only five bots, I will be dissappointed. I don't care whether or not they look exactly the same as they did in the 80s, but I want to have all six of them.

I don't mind Devastator being bigger than the other combiners, personally. I just want him to be extremely well-proportioned.
If all 6 Constucticons were voyagers, the constraints of Devastator's design would probably place Hasbro's Devastator at around the same height as TFC Hercules. But even Leader figure would also have to fold up and become a big ole block of combiner fodder, so the revelation of a Leader team member aside, I still can't see Generations Devastator being more than an inch or so taller than Hercules.
Hmmm.

Oh also I wanted to point this out. So we have this rumour:
-New Mold for Generations Devastator with yellow SDCC set.
Also
G1 box set:
- Blaster
- perceptor
- Insecticon
- Trypticon
- g1 cone head set"
And then we have this:

Yeah, I dont think so. The brand is alive and well and G1 looks anything but dead right now. I am happy to be a fan even if none of what is written above is happening (though we all know quite a bit of it is)

I wouldn't be surprised if Scrapper gets the shaft. They'll just repaint Generations Scoop as him as a separate figure.
It's a shame. I want to be excited but I already broke down and got a Green Giant. (Plus I have the Classics and G2 versions) I can't afford another expensive Devastator set.
Long Haul makes sense since those types of trucks are huge in real life, well as a matter of fact all the modern equivalents of the Constructicons are bigger than most people would think.

He probably won't be. Metroplex was tall, but simple and hollow in robot mode. The amount of engineering going into a combiner would require much more (and sturdier) parts. Plus, Titan Class is just a price point, not necessarily a size class.

Comics aside, we need (read: I want) 6 Constructicons.
It'd be mighty weird if the Leader Constructicon was their to compensate for a deluxe Prowl that just turns into a head...

That's targeted towards a completely different market.

Maybe the Leader Class toy is Prowl? XD
But yes, an optional Prowl head would be cool, and make sense, since that's the only visual difference between normal Devy, and Prowl Devy.

While I'm excited to get a giant devastator... I will be disappointed that/if it can't mix with the Combiner Wars limbs... and if it's only 5 bots. If they are going to the trouble of a totally separate mold and scheme and box.... it should have all six.
Else, my ultimate "Classics" shelf Devy will be a 3P stand-in. (Though I am sure to get this one, too.)

Guys, it'll be six. All Combiner Wars gestalts consist out of 'six' members. I'm guessing we'll just have one 'Head Master' Legends of… Hook? Which would potentially allow for a Legends Prowl with a different head mold as well. It makes sense.
[edit] Screw that. It'll be Scrapper then, as Hook became a limb in IDW as well.

I doubt it will be compatible with the other combiners. It would not be a stable toy even if it was feasible because of the weigh/size differences, and I would highly doubt that the existing connectors of the current figures could be compatible with a voyager sized figure.

$179.99 Canadian. The expected U.S. price with the current exchange rate puts it at about $149.99 USD. Going off the difference between the G1 Insecticons reissue in the Canadian listing ($99.99) versus the US shelf price ($79.99), the $149.99 estimate for the US price is very likely.

Hi Ryan, does Hasbro/Takara have an "official" definition of the term "Titan Class"? Does it apply to Titan Metroplex-sized figures only, or to figures measuring just larger than Supreme Class (Armada Unicron, Energon Omega Supreme), or is it only a price category meaning $150.00+ range? Maybe it just means whatever they want it to?

Maybe it will just some with a head that can pop on and off a ball joint.
I don't think Prowl will be incorporated at all. Just because he was in the comics doesn't mean it will happen in the toy line. At least officially. 3pt will be a option though.
I definitely do not see it being a legends figure, mainly because they will have a deluxe one of it later this year, with Mirage, Sunstreaker, and Ironhide. But, you never know.

Classes pertain to costs. Hasbro has already stated this many times.
