In another example found in the second-to-last episode of The Headmasters cartoon, Defensor got his First Aid arm blasted off him by Bruticus. Using a form of Scramble Power that Defensor referred to as a "Speed Change", he switched Streetwise from being a leg to replace his missing arm, and First Aid was reattached now as a leg. The name "Speed Change" suggests that this new configuration was meant to possibly increase Defensor's speed to better match blows against Bruticus.
A better example of this can be found in Defensor's 1992 redeco Guard City, who used a similar but different technique called "Free-Combination" ("Jizai Gattai") to assume different configurations for different situations. His standard configuration has Fly-Up (Blades redeco) and Streetstar (Streetwise redeco) as his right and left arms, and Safety (First Aid redeco) and Sparkride (Groove redeco) as his left and right legs.
When he needs to act as a field medic, he switches out Streetstar to have Safety form his left arm to access Safety's medical expertise in Repair Formation.
When he needs enhanced speed, he switches out Safety to have Streetstar together with Sparkride to form his legs (while Safety this time forming his right arm, apparently taking Fly-Up's place, who instead is the left arm now) to access Sparkride's and Streetstar's speed in Mach Formation.
When he needs to assist humanity in traffic control and safety like a traffic cop (cuz he apparently does that or something), he switches out Fly-Up to have Safety together with Streetstar to form his arms (while Sparkride seems to switch to being the left leg since Sparkride's now the right one, for some reason) to access the sirens of both Safety and Streetstar in Signal Formation.
And when he needs more heavily armed equipment for battle, he switches out Streetstar to have Sparkride together with Fly-Up to form his arms (and Safety apparently switches to being the right leg since Streetstar is the right) to access Fly-Up's rotor blades and Sparkride's sharp air current abilities in Attack Formation.
