Transformers Generations Selects Series Discussion

I... honestly don't know what to think. I get what they're going for, and in some aspects it fits the character really well. Like a more savage version. Still... the duality of the Selects vs. the Club toy really fascinates me.

What are the chances of SS86 Hot Rod being repainted into SG Hot Rod as a Gen Selects offering?

I'd say it is a pretty good chance, especially if the leaks that indicated potentially more SG to come are true. There really aren't that many potential other uses of the mold, so SG would seem a pretty sure bet. The only other bot that readily comes to mind is Clocker because of the car mode, but I can't see them doing a $30 verison of Clocker.

To Date, every Selects offering has been repaints or slight retools of Main Generations line toys (I know SS are technically Generations...) . I myself wouldn't mind seeing Selects expand to SS proper, or SS86, but as of now it hasn't happened yet. I mean if you look at Kingdom so far and SS,and think of the possible repaints, there is a lot of potential (Also not sure if Deep Cover was left over from Siege, or an example showing that Hasbro isn't afraid to go back more than 1 year on Selects offerings).
We know some of the rumors. Also some of the Repaints will apparently be exclusive to specific retailors, and not necessarily selects.
In any case, I think the doors are pretty wide open, heck I can still think of LOTS of CW repaints/retools that could be released via Selects...but that's just me dreaming. It just depends on what Hasbro decides.

Re: Transformers Generations SELECTS Series Discussion
I could have sworn there was a leak or rumor about a Selects Sweep from SS86 Scourge. That and the leak/rumor about more SG had me thinking. If no Selects from Studio Series then my next hope would be a SG Soundwave from Netflix Soundwave.

I don't remember the episode as fondly as some others do, so I don't have much attachment to the character, but this new Transmutate looks pretty good! The gold and teal go surprisingly well together. I wasn't going to get any of the Fossilizers, but I may pre-order this.

To avoid fan outrage of not having Movie figures in the Selects line, slim. Though there's another option for a Hot Rod redeco:

The Sweep was main line I think. Exclusive, maybe, but not Selects last I read.

I’ve always thought of Transmutate as genderless, personally.
I like the colour scheme on this figure, and I’ve made a personal vow to get every Beast Wars character in the Kingdom line, so I’ll be getting this. But I’ve never had any affinity for the character or episode they were featured in. But maybe I’ll feel differently when I rewatch the episode in the coming weeks, having not seen it in 20+ years.

Its one of the best Transformers episodes ever IMO. Its kind of morally deep and philosophical. I like that it paints the Maximals and Predacons as more or less the same ... the Maximals aren't black and white good guys in this shades of gray episode that should make u think!

In the original script, gender neutral pronouns were used to describe Transmutate. It wasn't until the Transformers Collectors Club that Transmutate was depicted as definitively female, but that was also an alternate universe version of the character with a very different origin. This is the first time Hasbro has officially referred to Transmutate with female pronouns in print copy.

This particular figure is being marketed as a female, as evidenced by the Hasbro Pulse product description referring her as such.TOO MUCH ENERGON! wrote:Sabrblade wrote:She.transformers_va wrote:Is it just me, or does he

I don't understand this, there have been many people, myself included, who have been begging for a couple selects releases of SS toys. They deserve that love too.

My guess is the live-action Movie stuff has some kind of licensing issues preventing them practically doing Selects releases or things along those lines in some way, cuz IIRC there was a similar issue with Movie toys preventing TFCC from doing BotCon etc. releases using those molds.

Mine is that it's more of a pragmatic thing and keeping the main Gen. line and Selects "G1" is "tradition" for them. SS86 is an exception but justified, still if SS86 was to be allowed into Selects, it would set a precedent that Hasbro may not be ready for.
The licensing for TFCC had more to do with character designs and vehicles, something Hasbro isn't burdened with. Still, the profit margin with those may be lower, thus smaller-scale releases like Selects may not be worth it economically.

I got Exhaust today, the first Transformer I've bought since moving into my new home. Sadly I found a QC problem while I was transforming him to vehicle mode; the black piece that the neck ball joint is attached to is a little bit too big to fold downwards, so you can't move the head down into the space it goes in. I managed to sand the piece down with a nail file just enough so that it's fine now.

Just got my SG Prime and Ratchet set and okay. I'll admit it: Earthrise Prime is a mold of beauty. Every just pegs together so satisfyingly, and the SG colors just improve it so much for me. I actually like it so much that it's kind of inspired me to design a 3d printed trailer for him that'll hopefully turn into armor for him
