Unusual Christmas Present

Weapon: Diffraction Sword
For Christmas, one of my roommates stopped by the Dollar Store, and picked up a gift for me: TF Universe Spychanger Mirage. It's an older figure, 2005-2006, but what I found interesting was that it doesn't match the pictures I've seen. This Mirage isn't in the expected color scheme. He's predominantly semi-translucent green! Looks really cool actually. I'm just wondering if any of ya'll have seen this guy and can tell me more about him. (Counterpunch, you encyclopaedia of random knowledge, I'm looking at you.)

I found that very same bot at Big Lots and bought him around mid-summer. For some time, I thought he was a KO, but since then I have heard he's a legit Transformer. Translucent green little guy with a translucent purple gun! Thankfully I only paid $1 for the little thing. Tis the only TF my cat is allowed to play with...and he LOVES him!

What about me?

Burn is right tho, it's nothing more than the KB recolor of RiD Mirage.

The backstory is like this: first the KB Exclusive G1 Spychangers were repackaged for Universe, for sale in Dollar Stores. The second wave of those Universe repackages had three of the recolors of the original RiD Spychangers: Mirage, Ironhide and WARS (as Autobot Camshaft).
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
I have 4 of those as well. I have the transluscent green Mirage, transluscent blue truck (I think Ironhide), Jazz, and the RID Scourge Spychanger repainted into Optimus Prime.

I've had them for a year or two now, and I always assumed they were figures that were part of the old Universe line that I never noticed.

So my question is this: What line do these guys fall under. Because until now, I had them displayed with my Universe 1.0 figures.

It should be further noted that Clear Spychangers were at one point, highly sought after Japanese exclusives, often commanding stupid dollar values for...wait, I collect stupidly expensive Mini-Cons and have no right saying that...

At any rate, KB, Dollar Stores, et al. are all about 5 years too late in getting these formerly desirable toys to US consumers.

I remember when I got back into collecting, a local comic book shop had a case of randomly packed clear spychangers from Japan for $25 a piece, oh how I laughed.

I have that Mirage; I got it at a Family Dollar store (for $2) last year, along with 5 other Spychangers. There was a set of 6.

What Spychangers are you talking about there CP? Japan had some exclusive repaints and the KB recolors weren't one of them. Japan got these:

Regular
Jusco repaint (Jusco's a chain store)
Super (blind packaged)
Super Clear (Chase pieces)

The US got:

Regular
Clear
KB Clear Recolor

As for the first set of G1 Spychangers, they're standalone i.e. in no specific line.

Yep, that's him, except the gun is purple, like Pyro mentioned. Nifty little guy, nice to know he was once sought after. I think I'll just call him Toxic Avenger Mirage. :P
