Pretty much all of the titanium line of toys sucked big time. Anything that you look at funny and it falls apart is bad idea in my book.

One slightly weird/eeh? idea for the cartoon was in Cybertron, where some of the story took place on a planet called Speed Planet.
Now, I know the writers of the show never intended for the name of an illegal drug to be repeated over and over again on they're show, but that's what they got. It sounds similer to Meth Planet (which sickens me to even think of such a thing).
It's not the worst idea per se, just something I didn't like personally. But, I'm sure there are those that will laugh at this and say "huh?". If so, I understand.

Wasnt the planet called veliciotron or something anyway.
Do you get upset about the use of the word speed in all circumstances, the word does not automatically mean the drug its used in the english launguage more without that asstigmatism than with.
Speed cameras are not cameras for those on speed.
Speeding tickets are not given out to those who are using th drug.
Dude seriosly if you hear the word and can only think of drugs i think youe got a problem

Darn, I was just about to ask what you thought redeemed it.
But BTW, my collection it quite complete without it.
And saying Bulletbike looks like you'd find in a dollar store is an insult to dollar stores. You can find high quality mini Fort Maxes in dollar stores if you're lucky.

Yes you are correct. It is called Velocitron. And yeah when I hear that word I get all freaked out. I live in next to some textbook cases and I would never wish no one would ever use that stuff.
Anyway, I probably should've just kept that little thought to myself anyway. I guess it may be a little off topic. At any rate, best to all.

Honestly, the worst idea to me is the "Everyone in Energon can combine with everyone else!" thing. A cool idea that was poorly executed IMO.
Also, the Throttlebots are pretty dumb too. I had a couple as a kid and they were always the cannon fodder in battle just so they could chucked to one side and forgotten about.

Non-transforming transformers. I mean, the whole premise is for them to transform.
G1 Megs. I know I might get flamed for this, but a gun mode seemed so silly. Galvatron made more sense however, as he turned into something that could at least aim itself.
Combiners with add-on pieces. I know, that's pretty much all the big ones, but oh well.
Energon toys. Granted, there are some little gems in that line, but on the whole, I'm glad my interest for TFs dropped at that point, or I might have made the mistake of actually getting some. Ironhide looked awful.
Beast Machines. The series was okay, but the whole techno-organic obsession just annoyed me. Plus the toys were poor.

I know this one, It was really called VELOCITRON. If you actually watch the show they called it speed planet as it's nickname. I still watch the show at 5am in the morning. I'm not a fan of the BW era but thats not to say I don't like them.

Re: What are the dumbest ideas for transformer you have ever hea
Energon Mega Dinobot.
Anyway, 2 things I'd like to comment on from this thread:
1: Pretenders. IMHO they were pretty cool. I believe the whole idea was to thke the whole "robots in disguise" idea to another level. I mean, a robot that can disguise itself as a vehicle...disguised as a human in a spacesuit. Ok, the human ones weren't so great of an idea, but some of the others were...such as robotic beasts-formers with shells that looked more like animals. & my personal favorite of the group was the ultra pretenders.... a huge vehicle shell that hid a second transforming shell that hid the transformer. Robot in disguise...in disguise........in disguise!!!
Of course, I was a bit younger when G1 came out, so I hit the target age (8-11) about the time of the gimmicks, so the gimmicks are what tend to appeal to me, even if the robots aren't all that spectacular.
2: Transformers not transforming. I know a lot of people don't see the point of having a Transformer that dosen't transform.....but honestly, the IP isn't necessarily about transformations. It's about an alien race of robots. Even if said character can't transform as a toy or statue or whatever, it's still representative of a fictional character that can, hence it's still a transformer. That's be kind like saying that Spider-man action figure *must* be able to cling to a wall of it's own accord(no just hanging it on wires or sticking his hands in crevases...has to hang just like Spider-man does...fingertips touching & bottoms of the feet), or else it's not truely a Spider-man figure.
Anyway, that's my $1.75

A 1,5hour long knockoff, what more can you wish for?
Now seriously, who comes up with these things?
"switch to stun!" 'eeeeeeieeeeeyrrrrrr"
and wonderful visual effects and men in goggles.
gawd this is pathetic.

I actually disagree here. The alien robots thing was tacked on AFTER the toys came out, so the whole thing is about robots that transform, in my opinion.

I hate to say it, but SPARKS.
Now follow me, I can understand how they are the core of the bot, and it's a good idea.
But what I don't like is how it pretty much dismisses the need for the rest of the body as nothing more than a means to carry it.
A body gets destroyed, "OK get the spark and put it in a new one" To me it takes away from the severity of battle as depicted in the 86 movie and DinoBot's death in Beast Wars.
Both Prime and DinoBot where beaten and battered then died. Granted Prime came back(but never the same), not because they put him in a new shell, but because they rebuilt the one that fell.

You bring up a good point. But, actually I like the spark idea. It makes it so any Transformer can be brought back, unless of course if the spark itself gets destroyed.

what they started as has no bearing on where it is as an IP now....& they are now an IP about alien robots that can transform, but don't have to if they don't see a need for it.Valandar wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:2: Transformers not transforming. But thats just it, they never do!
Beast Wars, Primal gets blown it itty bits, but it gets brought back.
Armada, Prime, SmokeScreen, and StarScream all get destroyed then brought right back(granted StarScream was a little later, but still)
Energon, Demolisher gets vaporized, then brought right back, same thing with Inferno.
And thats just the tip of them, Universe was packed full of this and so on and so on....
Again, the idea, I like in general, but the way it lessens the need for a body is something I don't.

I can appreciate your point here. It's an "either/or" kind of matter; either you're all for robots having the equivalent of a soul and adding a mystical aspect of their existence or you think it's really dumb and once a machine's CPU or whatever you want to call is destroyed, then that "life" is gone.
I dunno, the "once he's dead, he's dead" aspect has a jarring finality to it that really brings home the idea of mortality and would seem preferable, but I remember being pretty shaken by the idea of death of TFs in the 86 movie. In the long run, I probably learned a lesson, but I don't know if I needed to learn it when I was 6 and I think there's enough crap in even a kid's life that the total death of a beloved cartoon character is not really necessary as life lesson. I would think the toys are more of escapism rather than the realities of life that are coming soon enough.
Anywho, I can tell you Hasbro is definitely afraid to off *any* character these days after the outcry of the 86 movie, even to the point where I doubt many of the characters from the 07 movie are going to be *dead*.

On Hasbro's end, yeah, no bot will ever die again, and if so, not for long. I think it's a financal move though as apose to a moral one.
As for the idea of "either I like it or I don't" I think there's nothing wrong with liking an idea, but not the extreme it's been taken to.
As a way to explain how a figure can take tremendios damage and keep pushing thats fine. As a mind/heart deal, that's fine too. But what it's become has disembodied the being. If the spark is the only part that matters, why have a body at all instead of just a minimal containment structure?
As for kids not needing to know about death and suffering, you may be right, I don't wanna argue it though. I'm just gonna say, even at my youngest age I wasn't spared the reality of it. Weither it be a family funneral, or a classic Disney movie. The sheer reality of it has always been there.
It's tramatic yes, but seeing it helps you deal with it. We live in a age of "Happy Endings" and I think not only is it boring, but lack of exposure to the grimmer sides of life make one very unprepaired for when a tragedy eventualy comes.
I see it everyday. Hell, even horror movie remakes have happy endings now a days istead of that one last jump out of your seat moment

Classics line Megatron, don't get me wrong it's a fantastic figure but when you look at what it could be, I just wish my painting skills were better. No offense but whenever I see it on my display I just feel Hasbro is promoting their Nerf line lol.
Now the japanese version coming up is amazing looking. All it needs is an orange tip, and we're set!
