What is it about the seacons
With all the talk about the secons I still don't get what it is about the seacons that is making everyone have geekgasum. There cute little sea creatures they don't look really scary or anything not like the predacons or the Terrorcons.

Serpentor "I am the one born to rule and destined to conquer. Let those who fear me, follow me. Let those who oppose me, die."

I believe the expression "you always want what you cannot have" applies here. And at this point, the Seacons have reached near mythological status.

Ironic and accurate, seeing as how they could be considered mythological in origin (some of them, anyway...).
I, for one, never even knew about the Seacons as a kid and only found out about them after I got back into collecting. I don't think they saw as much daylight under the shadows of Devastator or Predaking, or, to some extent, Menasor and Bruticus or even Abominus--they just weren't as ingrained into the storyline. That alone makes them somewhat "rare" and, consequently, more popular or sought after.
But they have some other things going for them as well: each smaller 'bot can become a weapon (and there are 5 of them!); the paint apps are different, bordering on weird, yet appealing when put together; the awesome God Neptune repaint; there just aren't that many G1 sea-based figures, let alone sea creatures.
Who WOULDN'T like these guys? They became an intermediate grail of mine after I discovered them--one of the best combiner completions I've had as a collector!

Yeah, the Seacons are very cool and the combined mode looks very excellent, but in all reality I think their appeal is based a good percent on how hard it is to obtain them. Plus the Targetmaster element plays into that, as Phiranacon is quite the versatile gestalt since each piece sans Snaptrap can also serve as a weapon.

Because they're awesome, and because it would be nice to get a combiner that isn't Bruticus or Devestator.
They were my favourite toys as a child, and while all the other fans got their nostalgia's stroked by the endless Devestators and Combaticons out there, all my favourite toys and characters got ignored, while fans got a new Constructicon and Combaticon set every 2 weeks...

QTF. How many different Camo's does Bruticus need?
Why can;lt we get Menasor, or Computron.
Seacons are also one of the More original combiners. Sea Creatures, instead of Construction vehicles or Military Vehicles plus a Space Shuttle?
and also because unlike Bruticus and Devastator, they haven't even had a knockoff. Bruty and Devy along with Superion, are knocked off more than a Gucci Purse.

I can see some remolds in that Bruticus line up!

The handles are slightly remolded... that launcher & missile was also used for G2 Sideswipe & Jazz. G2 Silverbolt shares launchers/missiles with the G2 seekers. G2 Prime's launchers were slighlty remolded from the 1992 GI Joe Barricade figure while the missiles are the same or very similar to the 1992 Gung-Ho.

They are great molds, too many fans dismiss them right away because of their colours or because "they look super-deformed in robot mode!" (like most of the other G1 toys weren't? Have you looked at G1 Swindle lately?)
But they are one of the only combiner teams whose members all look good in alt mode, all look good in robot mode, and the combined form in awesome and armed-to-the-teeth! His colours do make sense given the "aquatic" theme of the Seacons, but if you really can't like it, get the BWII or the Universe set (when/if it comes out) - these are great, fun little molds that every fan needs to have.
