The top 3 zeldas in my opinion are 3: the minish cap for some of the best graphics on the gba since metroid fusion.
2: ocarinia of time beacause....well do i really need a reason? its awesome!
1:twilight princess because of the amazing dark tone that it takes and because link is SUPER BADASS!

I wasn't a big fan of all the sailing in Wind Waker either. Until you get the cyclone song that transports you, it takes a while to get anywhere (especially if you get lost or go to the wrong place). Even when you do get that song so you can finally warp, you have to float around looking for sunken treasure for a good portion of the end. It was more boring than anything else.

Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. Love how on both you have a huge world to explore via the Sea and on Phantom Hourglass you can't beat the all stylus control. Very inovative, very cool!

Well according to the Guinness Book of World Records 'Gamers Edition 2008 the "Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time"the is the Highest Ranking Game Of All Time.
Althou I never really understood how they created this ranking system.
But it was my fav of all the Zelda games so I wont argue

Re: What is the best Zelda game?
Ocarina of time was a bit dissapointing to me. THe world was WAY too small for a Zelda game. There simply wasn't enough exploring to it. its one of those games that the cartridge factor ruined it. I liked wind waker much more simply just because it brought exploring back. I liked the boat and I liked the sea

It's TP.
Even in spite of the copy+paste models from WW compromising the art direction, it improved on almost every aspect of OoT.
Anyone who says OoT is either going along with the crowd, or caught in the middle of a nostalgia-wank.

Copy and paste...and a complete recolor and retexture for all models...so not much of a copy and paste at all, really.
The only thing TP really has on OoT is prettier graphics.

Let's not forget more inventive puzzles, deeper and more involved combat, better character development, and more fluid progression.
It does everything OoT does, but better.

Yeah, maybe.
Still, I really liked Wind Waker. It's very under-appreciated, it's a lot better than people give it credit. Probably because of the art direction, which is weird, because most reviewers liked that, and it even won the game awards in Art Direction, which was also won by BioShock, Gears of War, and Shadow of the Colossus. (Meaning it's good)
So I guess that isn't it.

I never questioned the art direction and found it very fitting to the theme (the slapstick humor didn't hurt much either.

I just finished beating Link to the Past, it was awesome. But who am I kidding? Ocarina of Time is truly the greatest game ever.

I would say the original. There was nothing like it at the time and i can still play it today and have just as much fun it is truely an amazing game. Although not superior in sound or graphics the gameplay and story were just as good as any that came after. Adventures of link was also great. Actually they were all pretty good some more than others.

What bugs me about the original Zelda, is that it is a very cold and empty world that has scant few friendly characters. The ones that are present do not interact well and it has always put me off because of that.
Zelda II was not so empty, but the NPCs in it felt robotic and were not interesting.
From A Link To The Past and onwards things were much warmer and fun character wise, and it really made the game a pleasure to play. And when Link's Awakening came around, it really tugged on my heart strings especially at the end when you realize Marin is gone forever. It was really quite bitter but was a great plot point for me. Much like how I felt about the part in OOT where you are told Saria "will always be your friend".

OoT was a great game, but it's been surpassed by no short distance in the years since.
OoT is as overrated as FFVII nowadays.

I think it's more of the effect the original and 2nd had on me as a kid at that age. When i play them now i have a little of that same feeling return. I know what you mean character wise about the earlier Zeldas and how the later ones were much warmer. I've really enjoyed all of them in some way or another.
