What's the secret to fixing RTS Perceptor?

Motto: ""Excessive force is not necessary.""
I've been having a deuce of a time with my Perceptor figure's backpack/shoulders assembly. The whole system depends on one rectangular peg fitting into a hole in his back hinge, but there is barely any bite to keep the peg secure. As a result, every time I move his arms (and even sometimes when I don't) his backpack/shoulders pop loose again. :BOOM:

Obviously a design flaw, and the responsible parties should be tracked down and given a good sacking, followed by a good blackballing afterwards....but I digress.

Has anyone figured out a decent, fairly non-invasive mod to correct this issue? I bought another Perceptor yesterday thinking that perhaps the problem was limited to mine, but no, they all seem to have the same issue. Now I'm thinking of keeping the double and permanently robot mode-ing him by supergluing the peg into its corresponding hole. It's a bit shlockey to do this, and will ruin the figure, so I welcome any alternate methods anyone can suggest.

Thanks in advance! :D

You're doing it wrong.
Before you transform the backpack, you must fold down his windscreen so that it sits flush against his hood.
Then move the panels that hold his arms so that they rest over the little peg on the panel that's attacked to his wheels, now the arm panel will look up at a 45 degree angle. Then move the backpack towards the torso, moving up a bit so that the peg pegs into it's hole. You'll know your success once you hear a clicking noise and/or that his shoulders align perfectly with his torso.

And yes, it's a over complicated design.

Oh Primus! I am so low-density upstairs! #-o

I was totally fudging the backpack process.

Thank you so much for that explanation--it's perfect now! :APPLAUSE:

You're lucky, cos I only just bought mine and managed to properly transform him half an hour before I saw your post. So the memory was fresh!

It fits better that way, but still isn't that great. It's kind of a bad design.
