I've had a major bug to watch the animated Transformers Movie from 1986 in Japanese. Outside of Scramble City, I've never seen an episode of the original G1 Transformers cartoons (1984 - 1986) in Japanese. I'm half tempted to buy the original G1 episodes on DVD so that I watch/listen to the Transformers in a way that I've never heard before.

Do any of you know where I can buy the animated Transformers Movie in Japanese on DVD? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unless of course, the Japanese didn't get a Japanese dub and it's just the American voice actors with a Japanese subtitle. Still would be interested in it though ...

If it hasn't been DVD'd, maybe look for reviews of / collection pages mentioning the laser disc and see if someone'll do you a copy?

There's a 2010 set on DVD that was released in 2004 if you'll settle for eps. Apparently it's got notes written by Ichikawa.

You need the series on DVD? I do believe I can help you with that.

As for the movie, I am not sure that it has ever been released on DVD in the Japanese language.

How much are we talking for the regular series? Has the movie never been released in Japanese on DVD?

It was released on DVD and Laserdisc. I actually own the Laserdisc version (ebay for $15! I literally jumped for joy), but that's not going to do you much good. Actually, it doesn't do me much good, either. I don't have a laserdisc player, but it's a nice collectors item and the art is sweet. If you want the movie in spanish or german, I could help though (Honestly, I don't know why I have some of the things I do!).

I had the same itch a few years back so I bought a Japanese dvd from a friend of mine that imports stuff from Japan....I was hoping to see if there were any extras but there was nothinghing new....and its in english with japanese and chinese subtitle's no voise dubbing!The cover art was great!!!If you want I can email you a scan of the art and I might be able to burn you a copy let me know????
