Wow, awesome! I was wondering how the car hood would look in robot mode. Windcharger never looked better!

Re: WIP Windcharger UPDATE 1/06/08
Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement.
This figure was damn near impossible to transform. there's a lot of robot in that car. I'm not that thrilled with the alt mode but I'm not messing with this one anymore. There's a bunch of shots below and you can see the rest here http://www.flickr.com/photos/7834016@N02/s...57603757320742/
Thanks guys!
I had a blast with this one.

I'd agree the car is a bit iffy, but considering that I can't do that well, doesn't matter.
I mean really, it's a Firebird. I can't hate them.
Nice work, and I'm gonna push at this again....*cough*Sideswipe*cough*
Then again, I couldn't buy it anyhoo...

something evil is coming. something in the air. there's an ominous dread in the wind.
also, you can ease up on the "great" Wheel Jack.

Sherade, sideswipe has his model car sitting right here. it's even painted. but I have to wait. hasbro is said to release both sideswipe and sunstreaker. I would imagine their heads will be great and their transformation at least similar to their g1 selves. so, I'm gonna hold off until they come out so that I can strip them for parts and stuff. trust me when I tell you that I can't wait.
cheers

Re: Windcharger Complete
I'm continually impressed by your work Wheeljack. The gaps in the vehicle mode aren't that bad. No matter how hard I try I always end up with gaps at some point.
Finally Windcharger can enjoy life the way he was always meant to; as a kick-ass full-sized G1 homage.

I think you mean Dreadwind and Darkwing. Keep up the awesome work. I think you should try Hot Rod, Ratchet, Ironhide, and a few others that I can't think of at the moment.

The head looks dead on, however I have to ask, will he have that little square on his chest?

Re: Windcharger Complete
hey guys,
the square thing in his chest is staying.

maybe it doesn't look right, but I think it's important. anyone notice the animators' error in that image?
as for Darkwing and Dreadwind, yep, got model kits for both of them. I want hasbro to release the new classics so that I can see what I have to pick and choose from for vehicles. Right now I have model kits for Hound, Smokescreen, Prowl, Bluestreak, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Red Alert, Jazz, Camshaft, and Mirage. I can't find the proper vehicles in 1/28 - 1/32 for Skids - Honda City Turbo, Cliffjumper - Porsche 924 Turbo, and Brawn - Land Rover Defender. I would also like to tackle the likes of Inferno and Grapple but I'm getting way too far ahead of myself.
In the meantime I have my a thundercracker repainted in the painting thread -

Re: Windcharger Complete
There is only two things i don´t love about this, the head is a bit too cube-ish as opposed to windchargers trapezoid head, and second (one that i'll have to accept because you had to make the transformation work) the roof sticking out of the back.
By the way, since you apparently cut up clocker, wouldn't it have been better to use his head? since it already is an homage to windcharger.
Other than those little quirks, this bash is TOTAL love!

Like Spike notices these things?
Lik a lone blue cassete deck with a decepticon insignia on the front.

Wait...YOU MEAN THAT CASSETTE DECK WAS A DECEPTICON?!!? I always thought it was just some walkman thingie that someone had lost out in the middle of no where were no human had ever lived before.

Re: Windcharger Complete
Oh man, this thing is perfect! It's what I miss about G1, real identifiable cars. The movie toys sorta brought that back only to a limited extent. The realism on this is great. I think most of us have known someone or seen a Firebird like this on the streets. I love the plain ol' steel rims. It reminds me of a teenagers first hot rod, not quite perfect but full of potential.

Hey thanks Charger426. I was thinking about the same type of stuff while working on this. I liked your reading of it. Also, I really miss the trans am. anyway, glad you liked it.
rhinox555, yeah the hood had to flip around the back. there's really nowhere else for it to go. and the squareness of the head was more functionality over aesthetics. it had to partially fit into the chest. if I started the trapezoid at that width his head would have been too small. I see what you're saying though. clocker's head would have been too small too. thanks for the comments.
cheers

Nice work W_J! Where do you get your model kits and what scale do you use? You've inspired me to do at least one kitbash like this. I'm thinking maybe Prowl, Motormaster, and Sideswipe to name a few, although motormaster might work a little differently. Hope to see more of these soon.
