Your best and worst purchase this fall

For me, best was Wal-Mart Fracture which I finally got tonight after much searching. Great concept and even better paint scheme. I'd love to see more classic Gobots redone in this fashion. Honorable mention goes to Acid Storm, who is as gopod as any Classixcs seeker released so far, including his much pricier exclusive counterparts.
The worst was Animated Swoop, which just lacked "meat" to me. I kept saying "Is this all there is to Swoop?"

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
Best would probably be the Classics that've come out. Sunstreaker, Prowl, ocTanker and Galvatron.
Worst would probably be Cybertron Voyager Megs who can't hold his arm cannon on top of his arm like the he should, and looks nothing at all like the Cybertronian jet that you got to see for a whole 3 seconds in the first episode. So yeah he was a Fail for me. Wish I'd held off and just gotten the Leadersize Earth Megs.
Honorable mention goes to Animated Voyager Prime and Animated Voyager Bulkhead who turned out to both be a hell of alot cooler then I thought they would be.

I would have to say Silverstreak and sideswipe. I really like the paint apps on them, they look really sharp even if they are reused molds. I would have to say that the worst one is Ironhide due to the problems that have been discussed in other threads, as well as how dull his color looks, especially when you purchase him with Silverstreak and Sideswipe who they used great colors on. I would also rank the Walmart Exclusive repaints (other than Fracture) as terrible. I just don't like their bot modes at all personally and they have sloppy paint apps.

I'm quite pleased with all the recent Universe Classics 2.0 releases that I've purchased so far, minus Prowl (great mold, but paint app problems galore).
My least favorite purchases have been mainly Animated figures. I know lots of folks love Animated, but the figures really disappoint me because they fall apart whenever transforming them.
So...
Universe Classics 2.0 = Yay
Animated = Nay

The best:
All of the Classics in the Universe Line and Henkei's that I now have:
1. Henkei Thundercracker
2. Onslaught
3. Nemesis Prime
4. Tankor
5. Acid Storm
6. Henkei Megatron
7. Henkei Starscream
8. Henkei Ramjet
9. Henkei Astrotrain
10. Henkei Prime
11. Prowl
12. Sunstreaker
And then there's everything that's on the way--
City Commander, Henkei Skywarp, Dragstrip, Sideswipe, Silverstreak, and Henkei Ironhide.
I have or am getting 2 of all of these except H. Prime (still have to order a 2nd H. Skywarp),
and I actually have 3 City Commander sets coming.
Worst:
1. Animated Voyager Megatron
Runner-up: Animated Bumblebee
Honorable Mention: Animated Lugnut
But with all those goodies, and what's still to come
(Hound and Ravage, Cyclonus, Inferno, Henkei Ratchet),
What an amazing year for Transformers!!!!

Best so far this fall?
Oooh, rough. I've had a LOT of good purchases. However, I do think probably my favorite so far is a tossup between Animated Jazz, and Universe Prowl (mine does NOT have the Sticky Door Syndrome). Something tells me that Sideswipe, Silver(Blue)Streak, and Ironhide will be joining that august company soon.
Worst so far?
Almost as tough, because there hasn't been a complete turd so far (not like last year's Payload). However, Universe Galvatron and Animated Blitzwing both disappointed; the former for being a stiff, gawky kibbleformer, and the latter for having alt modes that simply refused to stay together.

Best - Encore Metroplex. Win in plastic form.
Worst - Animated Blitzwing. Twofold reasons - one, it was a total impulse buy. And impulse buying is the ebola virus to casual TF collectors. Two, someone I know is offering MIB barely touched Blitzwing AND Lugnut for the price I paid for Blitz alone.
Impulse buying. What a cancer.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
It's hard to narrow figures down to best and worst, but here goes:
Best 3 (or at least my favorites)
-Activator Starscream
Okay, it's simple and a 'kiddie' toy, but I find myself unable to leave it alone when I go into my computer/hobby room. Just plain fun.
-Animated Swoop
It isn't supposed to be big. It's a pteradactyl. Perfect as far as I'm concerned.
-Universe Unicron
Giant planet-eating ball of doom. What's not to like.
Worst
-Universe Galvatron
Impulse buy gone bad. The first figure I ever felt I wasted my money on.
-Universe Sunstreaker
There's no depth to this figure. Feels weak and cheap.
-Activators Lockdown
Wow. This was a disappointment. Ugly figure with a playschool car mode.

Best would be either encore Metroplex, henkei seekers or henkei Skyfire.... what can i say i love'em all.
worst would be tm2 Megatron or cybertron Galvatron, i'm just disapointed that he has such a hugh gap in his chest.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
i picked up a shadow/laser beast off an action figures lot on ebay for 13 bucks total. also the city commander set and the botcon seekers set are probably my best purchases of the year.
worst would have to be spending 50 dollars on an ebay lot of broken beast wars figures that i didnt even want/need:(

- Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
Best: Animated Swoop, and G2 Trakkon Fearswoop (without the weapon, but for a bargain price with beautiful stickers)
Worst: Elite Guard BBee: bought only because the cheapest way to get a Swoop was to buy a trio of Swoop, Sentinel and it. I thought I will keep it Sealed, but during shipping it looks like somebody was sitting on the box, literally, it arrived totally crushed (fortunately, only the box, the figures were intact) So much for a good quality MISB, I may end up selling it.

Best so far was Universe Acid Storm and Onslaught. For Onslaught I gave him a spare Powermaster Prime Black Gun I had and now he looks awesome.
My least favourite so far is universe Galvatron. I got him simply because I'm aiming for a complete-as-possible Universe line.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
Hmm, best probably goes to Universe Prowl or Sunstreaker. Sunstreaker edges it slightly because he didn't have a paint problem like Prowl.
Worst was easily Universe Tankor. Shoddy alt modes reliant on a piece of kibble that doesn't have a use in robot mode. Easily the worst Classics/Universe figure.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
Haven't bought much lately. So i'll include the whole year for the pick.
Best are Movie Landmine and Universe Sunstreaker. The level of details and transformation on these 2 babies are beyond my expectations. The best!
Worst is Universe Galvatron. The tank is nice. But the robot is way below. The arms and legs are.. ugh! Articulation are lacking, and cannot be appreciated because the toy is so flimsy. Slight movement will knock him off his feet. I can practically do only 1 or 2 slightly different poses. All the other poses won't allow him to stand up without external support.
(Tankor comes close as second worst.)

Best: eHobby Omega Sentinel
I rarely do this. eHobby Omega Sentinel is not exactly a fantastic or perfect repaint. He's not a new idea nor is his price exactly appropriate. However. This is the kind of figure where you just know, you know that you've bought something special. This figure will be rare and he will be expensive. I think this figure will be the modern era Grand Maximus. For a collector, this is the kind of purchase you relish.
Worst: Animated Blitzwing
Eh, people probably love him. I wanted to at least like him. He's far too flawed though. His alt modes are both as imperfect as they could possibly be. His bot mode is just a bit ackward in most everyway. His soft rubber helm shows as a real flaw in Jet mode and I have not seen one yet that is actually straight. Truth is, he's not the worst at anything, he's just just a disappointment in many small ways.

Chicken Dinner Winner(s):
Universe Sideswipe, Henkei Prowl, Universe Blades, Henkei Skyfire, Universe Silverbolt-- All represent what I believe as a child I thought the toys were like, poseable, fun, and looking like the animation models that I watched on TV. I really love having them as a part of my collection.
Shown the door:
I'm pretty easy going on my toys. I usually like them no matter what. Usually... but Universe Powerglide...as Ugly Kid Joe used to sing, "I hate everything about you." I really do, except that it is Powerglide's character, who I am fine with and actually like. Everything else is just wrong. Scale, color, sound effects, poseability, size, price, alt mode, it's all just wrong to me, for the character and as a toy.
I suppose the heart under the chest plate is probably the best, part, and the head sculpt is pretty close to perfect, but everything else far out weighs it.
So I guess Powerglide, I don't hate everything about this new version of you, but most of it, like 99% of it.
Runner up is Tie Bomber/Tie Pilot...another SWTF figure I had high hopes for and it failed me. Too loose of joints, not enough joints to use to pose. Falls over. Wing panels too heavy on arms, and they don't move enough. Lots of potential, suck execution. Still probably better than 98% of the line, but still poor compared to any TF stand alone product, or any Star Wars stand alone product.

I guess what I was hoping for him was at least something more like the Beast Wars/Beast Machines style figures. I just walked away thinking cheap/flimsy.

I too thought this thing was a chore to transform and a bit awkward because of being a triple changer, although I do like the colors and paint apps.

Galvatron isn't getting a lot of love here and I have to admit, the first time I transformed him he fell into like 9 pieces. (Those who have seen me transform any figure made after 1996 know this isn't totally unprecedented for me) I already didn't like the scale and it seemed fragile and not really poseable. As time went by he really grew on me. He's actually starting to become a favorite Universe fig for me.

Best:
Encore's # 1-6 (Sweetness...)
Encore 5 and 6 custom heads (Love those.)
Classics Sideswipe
Classics Sunstreaker
Classics Blades
Henkei Astrotrain
Henkei Starscream
Henkei Thundercracker & Skywarp
Fansproject City Commander
Animated Voyager Prime
Animated leader Megs
Animated leader Bulkhead
Animated voyager Blitzwing (Robot mode make up for crummy alt modes.)
Worst:
Animated Soundwave (I like em, but he is rather cheap.)
Classics voyager Dropshot (cybertron colors were better imo. Mine had crappy paint apps.)
Classics voyager Heavyload
Classics voyager Blaster
Classics Galvatron (I DO like thigs about him but let's face it...this cat should have been an ultra class. At LEAST a voyager. Like the colors, even the orange but he falls apart too easy when converting back and forth. Hasbro should make up for this one with a Ultra class version.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
I've been short on cash lately, and have thereby only made 3 purchases in the fall (also distribution here sucks so we've had the same toys since late July).
Berst: Primus. He's a big deal. So wonderful.
Werst: Universe Blaster. Mine's cockpit is crooked, so that docks him off a lot of points.
The other one is Snarl, he's alright, but no big deal.

Re: Your best and worst purchase this fall
Best: Universe Onslaught. I was looking forward to getting this figure since the first time I saw the 'sample' pics a ways back when, and he didn't disappoint one bit. In fact, I think he exceeded my initial expectations. Totally worth it.
Worst: Gotta go with the thread consensus and say Universe Galvatron. I got him w/the Wal-Mart $7.77 deal and I still think I paid way too much for him. Confusing transformation to and from each mode, and he just seems so 'blah'.
Runner-Up: Animated Voyager Optimus Prime. Prime's on here really due because I had low expectations for him and, after purchasing him, realized he was a really awesome figure. The waist thing is a little wonky, but other than that, he is really solid. In fact, I could probably throw a lot more Animated figures in here. I think for the most part, the line is really great. (Voyager Megs is the only one I'd say was 'meh')

Best: Movie Voyager Offroad Ironhide
Hell I didn't even pick up the original, and I have to say that this is quite the remarkable figure. The missiles are well placed, the figure is stable, and it has a very nice looking alt. mode. Transformation is tough, but the final product, the robot mode is absolutely outstanding. It is by far the best Voyager of the movie line.
Worst: Animated Prowl
Perhaps it's QC, perhaps it's just my figure, but for me Animated Prowl absolutely sucks. He can barely stand properly, his Transformation garners a billion pieces snapping off here and here, and then... there's a Stop Light as a weapon? I don't even know what to do with this thing! The stars don't even fit into his darn hands. Animated Prowl is just way too nimble and loose of a figure, with gimmicks that don't even fit well with such a small figure.

Yeah, there's a lot of truth to that! Cartoon accurate, but not very "menacing"
