The Brits get run-over by the German train, 4 - 1. Dissapointing, but the Brit's level hadn't been up there for this World cup.

U.S.A offers a very mediocre match against Ghana, loosing in extra time 2-1 to them.

Uruguay demonstrating it can play the game, and deserves a spot in the finals beats South Korea 2 - 1.

The First quarter final match is set. Uruguay vs Ghana.

Germany will await there opponent from the Mexico vs Argentina match today.

Mexico predictably looses to Argentina 3 - 1. Though the ref's failure to sanction the clear offside of the first goal, may have aggravated the result.

Brazil walks all over Chile. 3 - nill.

Th Netherlands gets a conservative win over Slovakia. 2 - 1

For tomorrow we have Paraguay vs Japan, in what may be Japan's graduation to the big leagues if they can win it.

Spain will face off against Portugal, in one of the more anticipated matches. The Iberian battle will prove who is superior.

Quarter Final matches: Netherlands vs Brazil, Uruguay vs Ghana, and Argentina vs Germany.

My prediction: Spain vs Japan will the final match for quarter finals.

Man.. I'd say whoever wins Netherlands vs Brazil wins the AC, but then again the other side of the QFs are pretty stacked too. Germany vs Argentina, even this BO16 match between Spain/Portugal. I can't believe how crazy this WC is. Top quality stuff.

Japan, fails miserably in the Penalty shootout.

Paraguay moves on, to face Spain, the winner of the oh so tight match with Portugal.

Sadly it was quite a bit duller than expected. Neither team managed to really cause any danger to the other's goalkeeper.

No matches until Friday. Teams get to rest and prepare their Quarter final matches.

fir up, Netherlands will take on Brazil. Fro some reason I find myself rooting for the Dutch.

Uruguay will face Ghana. I'm sure Uruguay can come up on top, though I've been wrong in my predictions.

Argentine faces almost certain elimination with Germany.

Paraguay will have a tough job beating Spain.

Aww thanks! I hope we'll win. Don't think we will, neither do the bookies apparently, but it would be awesome if we did. So far we've been very effective with crap football. XD

Guess what North: the Dutch did win. 2 - 1 over Brazil. Knocking them out in quarter finals.

This is the second time in a row Brazil is knocked out in quarter finals.
Its also the worst they've performed since the 1990 world cup in Italy, where they were knocked out in the round of 16.

I watched the game! I really wasn't expecting that, but it's awesome! XD

Ghana are playing against Uruguay atm. I'm rooting for Ghana, personally. I think it'd be awesome if an African team reaches the semi-finals.

I'm a bit of a fan of African football teams. I was really disappointed to see Côte d'Ivoire eliminated so early.

Incredible!!!!! Ghana had the semifinals and let them slip by.

They really did everything they could not to qualify and so Uruguay moves to next round.

The missed scorings throughout the match, the incredibly ludicrous way of missing the penalty at the end of the second extra time.

And then the way Mensha dances around the ball before shooting, and missing... really... seriously?

Uruguay moves on to face The Netherlands in Semifinals.

The irony of this is the fact that the team capitain in 1990 is the coach of the team today. And probably he will be blamed again for the loss. :-B

Germany leisurely walks over Argentina. Finally Argentina got an offside correctly sanctioned. They had been getting scores off illegal positions.

And Spain barely, and I do mean barely manages to get the 1 - 0 victory. After both teams missed a penalty with in 3 minute of each other.

Uruguay will face off against The Netherlands, while Spain will face Germany.

Both matches stand to b quite entertaining. However unless something completely unexpected happens the final will be Netherlands vs Germany.

Netherlands have secured themselves a place in the final on sunday. What a frustrating match against Uruguay that was; we took the lead after less than 20 minutes played, only to give it away minutes before half-time.

The last couple of minutes were particularly tumultuous. Netherlands were leading with 3-1, but in the 92nd minute Uruguay scored a surprise goal and in the last two minutes of extra time they came frighteningly close to equalizing the score.

So who do you guys think will win tomorrow's semi-final? I'm rooting for Germany myself. They've played some of the best football of the tournament, and I think they are very likely to win the world cup this time around, whereas Spain have failed to impress so far.

Yup, that match was one of the best so far. When Uruguay scored that second one, I was sure we'd see extra time. However it was not to be. Even though the ref really did give Uruguay a lot of compensation time, they just could not get that tying goal.

Quite a good match.

As far as tomorrows match goes, I'm pretty sure Germany is going to win, but for some reason I really want Spain to do it.

But I'm sure the final will be Germany vs The Netherlands.

Though the third place match will be just as exciting after what Uruguay just did.

Spain does the unthinkable to Germany for a second time and beats them.

The game was a really tight match, with Germany hold ball possession for most of the match. No sure what Germany's strategy was, as they seemed to have come onto the field in "I'll wait and see" mode. But once thy realized they actually needed to score it was too late.

Spain moves on to the final, in what roves to be a very exciting match against the Dutch.

Germany will face off against Uruguay for 3rd place on Saturday.

Spain will take on The Netherlands for a place in history.

Well that was unexpected. Spain won. Can't say I'm too happy with that, was looking forward to seeing Holland and Germany face off in the final. It's such a classic match up.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Holland this Sunday.

The match for third place is today. Germany may have lost all interest in this when they lost to Spain, however Uruguay is more motivated than ever to end the Cup in their highest ranking yet, so I'm sure they'll go all out for this one.

Well the finals ended up being decided by the ref.

After a barrage of yellow cards, and a very questionable performance by the ref throughout the match, he failed to grant Holland a corner kick that they deserved during an essential phase of the match. One minute later Spain scored a goal that was obviously offside, but he failed to spot that too.

Two colossal mistakes within one minute, that ended up deciding the match in Spain's favor. Holland basically got robbed after a match where they were fully Spain's equal. A sad ending to what was a rather heroic affair on the whole by both teams.

I don't think we'll be seeing this guy again on any major future tournaments.

Yeah, reffing left quite a lot be to be desired. I mean he gave Holland 7 yellow cards some deserved, many not so much.

Holland's strategy seemed to be take it to the Penalty Shootout.

Still it was a very good match. Edge of your seat deal.
Sorry the Dutch lost it to the ref.
