I've had a theory for a bit. Most of us know that TF: Cybertron was another reboot that the dub tried to retcon as a another sequel to Armada and Energon, but it still doesn't fit right.
Well, I've been thinking, with some redubbing, would it fit better if it took place after Armada but before Energon? Like, if the Black hole was redubbed as just a black hole that had nothing to do with Unicron, and if all the characters were just new guys with similar names (or their names could be redubbed differently).
Aah, wait, this is too confusing. Let me try it at a different angle.
Would Galaxy Force fit better if it took place after Micron Legend but before Superlink? After all, the characters in GF had different names than their lookalikes in ML and SL. And Unicron wasn't in GF, so the Black Hole being his doing wouldn't interfere with his status in the beginning of SL.
What got me thinking about this was the different releationships between Earth and Planet Cybertron in all three series. In ML, Earth and Cybertron don't know each other. In Superlink, there is a strong relationship with Earth's governments and Cybertron. In GF, there is no relationship with Earth Cybertron again, and it isn't made until the last episode.
So, if GF is placed between ML and SL, it would be like, Earth and Cybertron don't know each other at first, then they start to form a bond at the end of GF, and then they are working together to mine energon in SL.
I'll admit there still may be some small problems, but this could still work, couldn't it?

That would kinda work. But We would have all these headaches if the production companies would have keept to Archer's script.

Okay then.
But if would this work if the shows (as they turned out to be) were ordered in this way?

Retconning Cybertron in to a middle child could have probably been done just as gracefully or more so, agreed.
Really wish they'd just forgotten about adding Galaxy Force in to the "unicron trilogy" when it was brought to the States. It's definitely the best of the series, has a wonderful and truely epic story with a wide cast of original characters too. I sometimes feel that people unfairly judge Cybertron because it was hamhandedly shoved in to the two previous series from Japan.
I watched most of it as Galaxy Force with English subtitles, then the Cybertron Ultimate collection came out and my husband gave it a chance and fell in love. Now it's extreamly confusing with us watching the Energon Ultimate collection. I've had to tell him to just forget about Cybertron while watching Energon, don't mentally try to "make it work" it won't and can't.

Aside from Galaxy Force, have any of the other post-Beast Era anime TF series been released online with English subs?
Was he aware that Energon aired before Cybertron did?

Probably, but I haven't checked in to it.
He's aware that Energon came before Cybertron, but I had to get him to disregard that. After watching Cybertron, then going back and watching Energon with "this came before Cybertron in the series" in mind will blow anyone's mind.

IAWTC, because I was almost one of them. I went into Cybertron geared up to hate it as much as I hate the other two and was shocked to find it winning me over. It's got a charming style all its own, that's for certain.

I also completely agree with that! I tried to mentally justify Cybertron as taking place after the Armada/Energon transition game, Prelude to Energon (not in the least because that's my favorite Armadaverse). The TF's visited much less inhabited parts of the world (the eerie empty human habitations peppered in the rural areas you explore hint what the designers couldn't outright say and still get a T rating: the 'Cons weren't taking prisoners), which would have led to their Bigfoot-like status in Cybertron. But I also like the idea of Cybertron coming second; anything to get rid of the major discrepencies between the Earth of Energon and the Earth of Cybertron.
(Edit: OOPS! Sorry. Fixd.)

There are, however, two argument that can counter this theory. At the end of Armada, Megatron (as Galvatron) perishes within Unicron. At the start of Energon, his corpse is still clearly inside Unicron.
If Cybertron were to take place between the two, how could Megatron be alive during Cybertron if his Armada corpse is still within Unicron?
Also, if Cybetron took place btween them, them how is it that Rad, Carlos, Alexis, and Kicker look so much older than they did in energon if it were to take place after it?
Those are the only ways that I can see how this theory wouldn't work... for Cybertron, that is. It still works good for Galaxy Force since all the names are different. At the end of Micron Legend, Megatron (as Megatron Super Mode) perished in Unicron's body. When Superlink began, he was still dead inside Unicron and was revived as Galvatron. The Megatron that appeared in Galaxy Force was not the same guy, but a different Decepticon known as Master Megatron (later Master Galvatron).
And as for Rad, Carlos, Alexis, and Kicker, that footage of them wasn't used in Galaxy Force, so it doesn't affect it.
Can anyone think of anymore of these "arguments" that may try to disprove this theory?

I think if Energon ended when Unicron exploded and turned into a pseudo balck hole about half through the series and that had Megatron and the Decepticons flying into for ultimate power (or something like that) and were apparently destroyed in it. Then Cybertron might have made some more sense as a follow up to Energon in the overall plot. I tend to think of Cybertron as a stand alone series.

But only Megatron and Starscream found the Super Energon pool. If they were killed in it, like you say they should have been, then how would they bee all alive and well at the start of Cybertron? And what about the rest of the Decepticons from Energon? None of themwere around in Cybertron, so, what would've happened to them?
BTW, that "pseudo balck hole" thing was his spark.

I haven't seen Energon is a while so I'm vague on the exact details, but I think it was before they stepped into the Energon pool. The events I'm talking about happened before Downshift arrived.
My thought are that the Decepticons fly off in an attempt to get power and only Megatron(I will refer to him as Megatron and not as Galvatron to save time) and Starscream survive due to the fact that their sparks have mutated due to their exposure to Unicron's spark (or something to that effect) while Snowcat, Demolisher, Tidal Wave, and Scorpok were all destroyed leaving only debris.
Megatron and Starscream arrive in the "Fire Dimension" that's heat is so hot it threatens to melt them. So Megatron uses his power to reforge both his and Starscream's bodies into their Cybertron forms and this reforging also has the unexpected side effect to restore Starscream's true personality and memories. Megatron also reforges the remains of his fallen Decepticons into Cybertron Thundercracker.

Or we could say that the dub shouldn't have been given those forced-in references to Energon and should've been a standalone story.
But it would work if it came between Armada and Energon.
