Any alternator is worth buying, just make sure the price for SS is below $/€20

I can't completely agree on that. I mean any alternator being worth buying.
I was quite disappointed with Battle Ravage. Mine is the Binaltech one. There's practically no useful articulation on the legs. Plus the transformation sequence being so tight, you'll get lots of scratches every time you transform him. A lot of that exquisite Japanese painting just keeps flaking off.
Overall, i'd say this figure is not a useful Transformer toy. It's only good to display in car mode. But the car is done in good quality. If not for the flaking off.
Good for car enthusiast only.

That's why we say Alternator eh? not binaltech
And the binaltechs indeed look better in car mode and the paint flaking is a known problem, that's why people prefer alts. for playing.
I'm not a car enthusiast per sé, but the car mode's do look exquisite and that's what makes the alts remind me of some of the G1 toys with their excellent real-life alt. mode.
Even if you don't like the bot mode, it is something new and a lot better than some toys out there, so you can always leave B-Ravage in his car mode, he is one of the few convertibles anyway.
I wouldn't know a single Alternator I wouldn't want to spend 20 on. even though the bot mode might suck..

Yeah, i guess Battle Ravage will stay as Corvette for all time.
Maybe this is a problem for Binaltech. But my Laserwave stays beautiful, whether car mode or bot mode. Fine details both ways. No paint flaking off. Good posability. Just a bit clunky on the big feet. But still good. Nice front seats and rear seats.
Speaking of Alternators, i do have disappointments too. In the person of, or rather, in the robot of, Silverstreak.
The finish quality just wants to scream "China!" Looks cheap. The molds don't fit together properly in car mode. Making it look like some junk car with bends and bruises. I initially thought i got duped into buying a knock off. But i verified this is original Hasbro.
Apart from the exterior finish and poor fittings, some moving parts are not good either. The most prominent of which is the steering wheel linkage. I mean the bar with magnets thing that links the front wheels to turn simultaneously. It's either the seams are not trimmed properly, or that plastic part is too large to fit into the groove. I can't get any smooth turning movement. Always have to use force. Which usually makes the bar bend. Scary.
So this one stays in bot mode.
By the way, one more negative score for this Impreza is the interior rear seats. There's none. In its place are two robot legs. If Hasbro wants us to imagine and accept these legs as representation of the seats, then they're not doing a good job.
For Alternator series, i'd recommend to skip this one, and all the other Impreza twins.

Yeah.. that's a bit of a weird one, the Impreza mold looks like a "cheap" transformer compared to the other ones. Sure, there's a crack in a bumper somewhere here or there, but the hinges above the front wheels on the Impreza make me wonder if they couldn't one better. It's much less obtrusive on the Wrangler for instance.

On the brighter side...
Best Binaltech i've seen are Laserwave and Grimlock/Wheeljack. Laserwave being slightly better overall. While Grimlock is an awesome car.
But Grimlock/Wheeljack looks a bit weird with skirts. His back view is a no-no. Laserwave looks dandy from all directions. He even got light piping into his lonely eye! The only Binaltech i've seen with this feature.
Jazz is superb in robot mode. But not as good as Laserwave in car mode. Since Jazz' car mode don't have bumper chin, half of the arms and elbows are visible in regular front and side view.
Best Alternator i've seen is Autobot Skids. Magnificent car. The truest copy of the real car. It's got complete interiors, down to the hatchback door! All 5 doors opens! Get a load of that! Folding front and rear seats. Beautifully tinted windshield and windows. Not perfect, but beautifully done. None of the robot parts are visible underneath, unless you turn him upside down. Only the feet in the trunk gives him away. But the feet looks like baggage anyway. So, it's still good. His robot mode has one of the best proportions and articulations. Really fun to play with this guy!

I just picked up Nemesis Prime for $20 Australian, it was a clearance item in a shopping centre. I didn't have any alternators and had previously knocked back a op for $30. To be honest it doesn't really impress me that much...
Are you just taking a dump on our collective admiration of rare alternators, if you still have some, PM me.
Yeah I guess I am. I have a few movie toys and a few more classics... plus my old G1 stuff, and this alternator is the worst transformer by far. I don't have multibles, but they had about 8 copies at the store.
