Break Blade

Looks like a cool manga. I've been looking at Kotobukiya's upcoming model of the Dirfinge/Delphing(I've seen both names/spellings for this...)( for a while now and I may pick it up.

I wonder how the crystal 0 Gundam's elbow joints are as the normal HG kit has pretty weak elbow parts. Mine didn't break but they seem pretty fragile.

I saw vegeta8259's review of the 1/8 Figurerise Son Goku and I can't wait for my kit to arrive. :)

Thanks for the heads up on the Dengeki Hobby with the Unicorn Base, pt206!

I know it's not Gundam related or even Bandai related but I'm really excited about the 1/144 Alteisen Ver. Progressive.

The ReZEL Commander Type and Jegan look great. The Kshatriya is cool too, very intimidating design. Have the Geara Zulu and Sinanju made an appearance in any preview images of the OVA yet?

Dalong recently put up a pictorial review for the HGUC Geara Zulu...I can't wait for mine to arrive. It's such a nice evolution from the Zaku.

I'd love to see the Ahead get an MG kit someday. :) I like it more than the Sakigake and Smultron variations.

The transformation for ReZEL is horrible. Most of the chest, the head, and the arms are left over pieces.

I wouldn't say it's horrible as major partsforming and swapping is the standard for Mobile Suit models with Mobile Armor modes.

I do admit that when I saw the ReZEL reviewed by a Japanese Gunpla reviewer a while ago, I was disappointed that it was designed as a standard Gunpla partsformer because I was hoping that after the HG Gundam 00 line, we'd see some aspects of true transformation in future model kits.

Asshimar is nearly flawless and it's an older kit. ReZEL is almost identical to Zeta with half the mobile suit remaining. I honestly expect more from Bandai at this point. I don't mind parts shifting, I just hate to see half the mobile suit left over. I wish they had made it 1/100 if that's what it took to get it right.

Hehe, well the Asshimar's Mobile Armor mode is an entirely different animal as its design doesn't have the same demands as a Waverider. However, I would say that considering the HGUC Methuss' transformation capability, I definitely agree that Bandai could have done more with the HGUC ReZEL.

Now as far as expecting more from Bandai at this point...keep in mind that Bandai didn't didn't include any beam saber blades for the HGUC Fullarmor Gundam 7th, as well as the HGUC RX-0 Destroy Mode, and most importantly didn't give clear beam effect parts for the HGUC 30th Anniversary RX-78-2...I mean, come on. The iconic MS of their flagship franchise, which they're celebrating the 30th anniversary, and somehow its HGUC model kit doesn't deserve clear beam saber blades? The 2001 HGUC RX-78-2 kit has 2 clear beam saber blades for goodness sake. I guess what I'm saying is that I expect Bandai to disappoint every once in a while, hahaha.

Now on to some happier news, check out these great pictures of the MG GN-X and some conversion customs...the Advaned GN-X is super cool.

I saw a couple customized GN-X's in Dengeki and they look great. Cover is MG V Gundam and they paint the clear parts a clear blue and it looks fantastic. Mine arrives from Hobbywave tomorrow and I'm going to paint them blue as well.

You make a good point about various 1/144 kits. I guess that's why I don't buy many of them.

What do you think about the enlarged 1/48 RX-78-2? I understand keeping detail work to a minimum for price, but there should be a core fighter at that scale.

The 1/48 scale RX-78-2 seems to me to be a novelty item. I think the main feature is simply the sheer size of the model. Details of the sculpt and articulation are minimal. It does have some nice touches like having the head unit incorporate several separate components. The RX-78-2 is my favourite lead Gundam design but even I don't have much motivation for buying the 1/48 model kit.

What I'd like to see is a box set for MG Exia Repair II(retooled MG Exia) vs. MG 0 Gundam OR MG 00 Raiser vs. MG Reborns Gundam.

Yes, that'll never happen, sadly.

Or will it?

Well I don't own the 1/144 Reborns Gundam.. but nothing's stopping Bandai from churning out MG kits for Gundam 00 seasons. And after two strong seasons they deserve more than 2(Seed had 5+?)...

Since Bandai chose the GN-X to be the second Gundam 00 MG kit, anything is possible, I suppose!

Yeah, SEED has several MGs, a few which have been retooled as far as I know. I think 00 should have more MGs as well. I think the show did quite well, has a movie coming out, and the range of designs are nicely varied and would be great for MG treatment.

GN-X was a logical choice based on the number of new kits they can make with only a few minor changes.

I'd rather see more UC 2.0 MG's. With the exception of the Tieren, 00 designs are too simple for MG and above. Gimme a 2.0 Nu, Sazabi, ZZ, Guncannon, S, EX-S, etc. I'll be surprised if we don't see a MG Banshee this year.

MG Trans-Am Exia's box art looks really good. Maybe I can get the box without the kit.

I think the main reason the GN-X was chosen for MG is that it wasn't already in the 1/100 model range. If we go on the basis of number of possible retoolings with minor difficulty, the Enact and Flag variations would be a better choice than the GN-X.

For 2.0 consideration, the Guncannon would be very likely for this year, I think. It's the only hero MS from MSG that doesn't have an update. I think the Zock may be another contender for MG in the near future. Both would tie in with the 30th Anniversary celebration. Nu Gundam and Sazabi would benefit from a ver. 2.0 because their MG kits have been outdone in the area of proportions by their HGUC counterparts.

Banshee and FA RX-0 are certainly going to be produced by Bandai this year and/or next. I'm more excited about the HGUC line because from the Jagd Doga onward, Bandai has implemented some very nice model kit engineering that they've stuck with such as pegs for weapons/hands and a robust neck component. The HGUC Jagd Doga, which will likely be my next model purchase, has a pseudo inner frame.

I'll wager Enact and Flag never see MG. You can pick up the HG 1/144 on sale easily as they weren't that popular. Some of the weakest transformable designs ever made. I'm assuming the "enemy" suits for the movie will be a continuation of the GN series. Does anyone know?

Speaking of something that wouldn't sell, V Gundam really needed a larger scale than 1/100. In a perfect world, 00 Raiser would have been MG and V would have been PG. It's been a while since I assembled a small Gundam and V is kicking my butt. The engineering is fantastic though.

I can see the Flag as a valid choice for MG but not the Enact. I don't know about their popularity as I've seen most models from 00 on sale. The only models in the HG 00 line that I've noticed that are more consistently out of stock are the more popular lead suits. Now I don't know how popular certain designs are in Japan and that's really the only proper gauge for popularity since Bandai is making their products for the Japanese market.

I think the Flag/Enact transformation designs are the way they are by design. The setting of 00 isn't supposed to have advanced MS designs with the exception of the Gundams and the designs that come after the Tau drive technology is spread.
