it said it was some kind of monster truck. and megatron a battle platform.

I am pretty sure Simon Furman mentioned Primal being a "monster" truck as a reference to the almost produced "TransTech" line. TransTech was meant to pe a prequel to Beast Wars, and there was concept art for the characters, and even some prototypes made. I have seen pictures of the Starscream and Cheetor, and there was supposedly a prototype of Primal as well.
This is the Final design for Primal, and as you can see it is a "Monster" (Semi) truck not a "Monster Truck"

Cheetor is referred to as an F1 type car.

look at the pic, it says optimus prime, not primal.
and transtech was to be a sequel to BM.
