One thing I'm a girl and boys just give in cuz...Why do you give in ?Well any how Just pretend you like HP and then maybe little by little feed her transformers.Like watch HP and then say like Harry is like Optimus Prime.

We do like Bumblebee quite a bit. He's adorable yet cool, and even is name is cute. Bumblebee...aww!

Beast Wars was written far better than any of Harry Potter.

Harry Potter is one of the worst written (in terms of actual writing) series I have ever read. The plot is well thought out, but the story is a shambles.

If the gf does not like the G! Hotrod/Rodimus story, try her on BW/BM Cheetor, same kind of thing, but with a more "magical" feel.

It really depends of what you’re in the mood for; Sci-Fi (transformers) or fantasy (Harry Potter).

Okay, what I don't get is that lonnnnng before Harry Potter, there were stories about kids and magic that were just as ridiculous, but they never took off like Potter has. What's that about??? The Littlest Witch had Tim curry in it! Not a hit. Sabriel by Garth Nix? (awesome, BTW!)No movie yet! Willow? Several books, one movie! We ALL know why Transformers has lasted as long as it has: ULTIMATE COOLNESS. Trust me, Potter is just a passing memory now, just like all of the cutsie-wutsie movies and books before it that were about magical little kids going on journeys of discovery. BLARF!!! How many of those kinds of things have to come and go before people get sick of them and say: I'll pass!

Okay, I like Harry Potter, don't get me wrong, but there are others who do "funny" fantasy a lot better (Terry Pratchett, for example... who is also kid friendly. For those who just watch movies, see if you can find a copy of Hogfather sometime, its a BBC movie last year). It's definately clear that around the 5th book, however, the books stopped being aimed clearly at kids and more at adults, as the writer realized what her core audience was becoming... as that happened, however, a lot of the "humor" or "new" factor went out of the HP books.

The last book, especially... was purely written as a fantasy novel aimed at young adults and older. And when you get rid of the "kid" factor and the "humor" factor, then you're competing on a whole new playground. George Martin, Terry Goodkind, Roger Zelazny... heck even the Dragonlance authors are all better written pure fantasy series.

So why do I think Transformers is better than HP? Simple. Harry Potter is now, alas, over. The story is finished. There will never be any more official HP novels nor stories. One person wrote them, and that one person is done. Transformers, however, has kept going pretty much consistantly for over 20 years. Lots of stories, characters, history, etc. to pull from. Yes, a good bit of it is crapola, but there are quite a few gems as well, as everyone here knows.

You don't have to get into a fight with your g/f over which is better though. You can easily say that they each have their own merits. If you want to get her "into" your hobby, show interest in hers. Read the books (there's not that many of them) and consider yourself lucky that she's not into Barbie or something extremly pink. Then, when you're talking about book six, you can mention how the death of **** reminded you of how sad you were when Prime died, or things like that.
