Hey folks, just a quick reminder - If you have any questions about G1 Toys, or collecting them, this week is the time to post in this thread!
Examples could include:
- What's a good price for a loose Thunderwing?
- Why is Prowl's hood still falling off?
- Why does my Jazz not have Martini logos?
Fire away, and of course, if you have other questions, fire away with those too

so, with 2013 almost done, what, in your opinion, was the best toy and worst toy of 2013?
if you had to make a display to commemerate the 30th anniversary, but could only use obe of each character (not mould), and had to include something from each toyline over the thirty years, what would be your definative Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc. (and I know the simple answer is Masterpiece, but...) ....and where would you cheat("this isn't a second Optimus, it's g2 sureshot??)

Dear Twincast,
Think Hasbro's serious about including Age of Extinction Prime in the Generations line? Or is this another coy scheme like the FE Prime figures?
As for G1- any of your original figures still play-worthy? Any figures you still play with (e.g. not display)? Or are they all in acrylic cases awaiting AFA grading?

What's wrong with them having one AOE toy in the Generations line as a preview for the actual AOE toyline to come (which will have a different Optimus in it)?Henry921 wrote:Think Hasbro's serious about including Age of Extinction Prime in the Generations line? I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I just don't think Hasbro's actually going to put a movie-line figure (a non-redeco/retool, I should specify) in the Generations line.

They're just playing coy, the same way they did with the Prime toyline, in my humble opinion. In all likelihood they're just running behind on production of the Age of Extinction figures and are teasing us with the one they have finished and tantalizing us with the prospect of early release so our interest in the eventual movie toyline is that much greater.

Many times on my way out to work, I grab a transformer off the shelf to mess with at work. Sometimes this can be fun. I might have forgotten how cool a figure is, or if it is fun to transform. Other times, I grab a figure that I remember being a lousy figure after messing with it for a bit or the transformation is just a bear and it's more stressful to transform it than work is.
So my question, what older figures do you guys go back to and realize "wow, what a cool figure." or "Blaargh, this is a terrible figure."

I think the AOE figures will be in Generations packaging (or its equivalent) once the movie has come and gone. It will be in its own branded packaging for some time.
I only have two of my original G1 figures. Most of mine were sold as part of a "time to grow up" yard sale. Those two, Windchager and Runabout, are beat to hell. I was good to my toys, but they got played with.

Re: Ask the Twincast

Hey, I had a question for the Twincast. In light of the increasingly low ages that kids use computers and smartphones (and therefore don't buy toys), what is your views on the need to simplify/ the simplification that we've seen. Secondly for Hasbro's next toylines how would you go about simplifying the toys and maintaining their integrity as playthings.
My opinion is that Hasbro should look at the many eras of Transformers, and pick up where engineering couldn't take them at the time. After all complexity wasn't pervasive through most eras of Transformers. An interesting example is that Hasbro could produce toys similar in nature to Fansproject's retro future line, where it takes a solid concept of Scramble City combiners and improves upon it.

Also how will the need to market to an increasingly smaller demographic of kids affect the future of the Transformers brand?

Twincast,
You guys are collectors, so here's a question for ya: I've never understood the value behind MISB in general, but MISB product seems more collectable because they have the boxes around the tys still. So what about the Botcon afd on sets? It's a BAG, not a box or a bubble card. Do they still hold value, and are they worth more to you, either in general vs. a figure on a tangible card or box?
(Asking more as someone in market than someone selling, but in general...)

I believe they sell the Botcon sets boxed first and foremost, and then you have the option to buy an ADDITIONAL set that's bagged. That way, people can display them in the box AND have a set to fiddle around with if they want.
My personal feeling about MISB is it's a display piece - the packages are often pieces of art (or plain worthy of respect) in their own right, and looking at an untainted package is like viewing the buying experience in its entirety. But that's just me.
I recently sold all of my Classics doubles because I needed the money, so I have fewer MISB/MOSC figures on hand, but still. It's neat where you can afford it, and if that's what you're into.

Dear Twincast,
In light of the TF:Cloud Rodimus redeco of Generations Springer, I have this question:
Given the indignity Springer has had to go through over the years as a repaint of several different, not-quite-appropriate molds, how do you all feel now that Springer's dedicated triple-changer mold is being repainted into so many characters? Do you think it's ironic, hilarious, annoying, or something else?
Thanks!

Dear Twincast,
I could be mistaken, but I think I've seen pics of most the podcasters, and based on the voices of the one or two I haven't, I think it's safe to say you're all a bunch of cracker ass crackers...so what gives, why no color on the podcast?
Enquiring minds,
Kibb
PS, I'd love to offer my services and help y'alls to broaden your horizons, but alas, I too am merely a cracker ass cracker.

Hall and Nash and Hogan and Bob are just one show now, but still entirely about Transformers. Mike talks to himself on the second show which is all about Asian Maid Cosplay, and the third features Rotorstorm, Jon3.0, and Seibertron talking about recipes. Matt and I start a podcast on cnn.com about world issues.
I'm derailing our thread. Oh well.
