I was just thinking, because of all the G1 references in the BW story, especially the fact that BW takes place after G1 and there are certain elements taken directly from G1 such as the Ark and its occupants and Ravage, could Beast Wars be considered a sub-G1 series? I know most people consider it to be on its own, but it has so many ties to G1.

The Wiki plainly shows the Beast Era being in the G1 continuity.

It's as much its own series as any other series is. But that doesn't mean it's not in the same world as G1. It most certainly is. Mutiple series can occupy the same world. Just look at these:

U.S. G1: G1 cartoon seasons 1&2 --> G1 movie --> G1 seasons 3&4 --> Theft of the Golden Disk --> Beast Wars --> Beast Machines

Japanese G1: FSRLTF --> Scramble City --> Car Robots --> RobotMasters --> Japanese G1 movie dub --> 2010 --> The Headmasters --> Chojin Masterforce --> Victory --> Zone --> Japanese Beast Wars dub --> Beast Wars Metals --> Beast Wars Returns --> Beast Wars II/movie --> Beast Wars Neo

2 posts in past year but figured I'd give my two cents. Beast Wars is part of the game continuum as G1...its just in the future. The Maxies and Preds are descendants of Bots and Cons respectively. The treacherous spider meanwhile is on of Unicron's spwans.

Actually, "Unicron Spawn" is an epithet (like calling someone a son of a bitch). What Tarantulas and the Tripredacus Council actually were is a bit of a mystery, but I'm betting on them being descended from Jihaxus' Cybertronians.

*Sigh* Man, Unicron's spawn and the 'Dark Side/Darksyde'. I hated how those were latched onto.

The irony is that, while the whole "Unicron's spawn" insult and the tying of Tarantulas were both conceived by Bob Forward, it was he who still wrote Primeval Dawn Part 1 and made the "Unicron's spawn" insult take on a more literal meaning. I guess Forward changed his mind.
