Several questions about binaltech. (edited with answers)

2) Are the KISS players die-cast (optimus prime, rodimus, etc.) or plastic? plastic
3) Which Binaltech and Alternators are there KO's off?
. . .a) Grimlock (plastic)- Ages3AndUp
. . .b) Wheeljack (plastic) - Ages3AndUp
. . .c) Jeep (white) - saw this on ebay twice, one said it was knockoff, the other said it was special chinese version
. . .d) Subrau, Chev, Ford Mustang, Dodge Viper, Jeep, Mazda, and Honda S2000 (from Powersa) - which means we can expect the civic/jaguar/fordgt soon

1) Since i am in the UK, i am assuming that we never received
the Binaltechs at retail. I will, however, take a stab in
the dark and say that we would probably have been charged
around £40-£50 ($80-$100) for them judging by how much we
were charged for the Alternators £20-£35 ($40-$70). Nowadays
it all depends on who you're looking for, Skids is a
particularly expensive piece of Transformers Binaltech.
2) The Kiss Players are indeed die-cast, you'd have to sell a
kidney to get Rodimus.
3) As far as i have seen, i am pretty sure that the Dodge Viper
molds (Sunstreaker, Dead End, Sideswipe) have knock-offs,
along with the molds you have mentioned. Possibly the
Smokescreen mold? i am not sure on that one.
Hope i have helped a wee bit

Sorry Maniac23, but Kiss players aren't die cast, they are plastic jobs... I know since I own them
Really? Hmmmm well my mistake, you'd still have to sell a kidney to get Rodimus though. I'm just shocked at the kind of prices he's going for with him being plastic and not die-cast.

There are also KO white and yellow hounds out there, along with Grimlock and Wheeljack KO's. You can get some of these at Ages Three & Up's online store. These KO's are die-cast like binaltechs BTW.

I've been thinking of getting KO wheeljack & grimlock from agesthreeandup, but I wasn't sure if the quality is good for the price ($19 each I believe). But now you mentioned these KOs are made of die-cast as well, perhaps I should give it a try.
Cheers!

Yep, the BTs are pricey, but you can get the new KISS (plastic) ones for around 3,000 yen- which is like $25.

Not sure which newer Kiss ones you refer to. But if you are talking about Kiss Player releases like the Dodge Prime, Hot Rodimus, and the police car RX-7, they don't come cheap at all in original price, even though they have no diecast. They are pricier than the Binaltech, because they have a added Kiss girl small PVC figure, as well as a Drama CD. It gets to the 6000+yen range. But since after Hot Rod, I haven't been following any newer Kiss release, so I don't know if there are cheaper side release after that.

MSRP is suppose to be 3999 yen, but on sale for 2999 yen- so it is still cheaper than BTs. The more popular ones are harder to get cheap, I know.

I might be wrong with this but i am sure that the item you have linked to there is actually a large PVC girl with a mini autolooper, not an actual Binaltech.

Correct. I typically paid about $70 for the KISS line, same as BTA.

Yeah, well I just took a glance at some auctions in Japan- and they are still asking for more and more as the weeks go by. Its kinda crazy. Esp for Kiss Rodimus- 18,000 yen is just silly to ask for.

Actualy, the lil PVC figures are kinda cute. They add a little variety to the shelves. Really helops set off the display. I was actually thinking of buying some on the side. Unfortunately,, I have no idea what line/brand to look into to find stuff in the same scale.
I figure hot little half naked japanese chicks will definately wanna party with anime accurate MP Starscream.

You should look at Amazon Japan's "top" sellers.

Thanks guys. This was all very helpful. I wanted to look at a couple of Binels but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg on the markup.
I was wondering about the plastic because I had heard that the only reason Takara released another bineltech was that some genius came up with the idea to make mirage transparent plastic when there was not a die-cast mold for him. I guess the only decent news is that Japan will probably be seeing rumble/ravage KISS sooner or later.

On #3,
I've seen photos of Binaltech KOs on these molds:
Subrau, Chev, Ford Mustang, Dodge Viper, Jeep, Mazda, and Honda S2000.

As far as I know, all KO's of Binaltech figures are very easy to spot in and out of packaging. Different colors, packaging, paint jobs, etc.
Even the ones sold at Ages Three and Up are pretty easy to tell. While they have accurate coloring, the Autobot symbols are replaced by another symbol, some of the words on the figures are different (I believe) and the packaging is different from a real BT.
