Botcon Thrust Revealed
BOOO!!! I WANT THAT FIGURE! DAMN YOU HASBRO!
I think that sums up everyone's opinion about the Botcon exclusives this year. I wish Hasbro would release them to the masses.

Why make these exclusives? Hasbro would make a mint from these seekers. Such a shame.
Um, no they wouldn't. Flooding the market with 6 jets that are virtually identical (parents don't pay that much attention to remolding like we do) would not have been a good idea.
The only other option for a general release would have been to wait after the movie about a year, and even then, most kids would be used to the way the movie figures look and probably wouldn't want any of the Classics.
So in a way, Hasbro was screwed if they released these figures to the public.
Much better to have them as exclusives, than not at all.
Parents will and do pay for repaints all the time from other toy lines, I don't see why Transformers is the exception. The Ninja Turtles are an excellent example of parents buying the same toy 4 times.
Besides, it isn't exactly like they would be flooding the market with 6 jets that are virtually the same. Starscream, Skywarp, and Ramjet have all been available for some time now and have sold fairly well. I rarely ever see them anymore, the shelves are usually full of Optimus Prime, Mirage, and Hot Rod. Releasing Dirge, Thundercracker, and Thrust would be a nice change of pace and each one of those are technically different molds, not repaints.
Thundercracker has had some type of role in just about every version of Transformers and is more of a primary character and probably should have been released retail. Dirge and Thrust are secondary characters and probably should have been released in retail as well, especially consdiering Ramjet had a release in stores. We have still yet to see Dreadwind and Bugbite which, in my opinion, seem more like fan exclusive type characters and would seem appropriate as exclusives.
I can agree with you that I am glad they are at least releasing these characters. They could have just discontinued the line altogether and we would never have a chance to own any of these exclusives. The classics line has done fairly well considering it had no cartoon to back it up unless you count G1, and I don't recall ever seeing commercials for this line. That means Classics has survived totally on the appeal of the figures on the shelves, word of mouth, and us, the fans. I feel Hasbro has done something unique because they didn't just target kids but collectors and fans as well, which at times, we sometimes feel neglected as an interst group.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Besides, can you imagine them trying to sell this exclusive, low production run set of figures on the shelves at $60 each, you know, so they could make their money back!?!

PFFT, right. She just takes them in the night and smuggles them out or the country in a duffle bag. No Seekers for you!

ARGH, well looks like I'm missing out on some awesome pieces. I will never spend $279 on Classics even if they are this good. Damn you Hasbro and your way of hyping up people with your shananigans.

I hear she steals their lifeforce to perserve her beauty, that's why she's always adopting more children. She's in an arms race to amass more of them than Madonna.

The reason I'm not is that instead of continuing the best line they've done in a good long time, Hasbro is releasing this figure as a Botcon-exclusive. I just don't have the money to go to Botcon and get this set. Especially when the exclusive happens to be Thrust. Happens to be my favorite seeker, and I'd rather get him than Ramjet (though I admit I'm likely going to get that one, anyway).

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

I honestly expected some kind of a repaint and they really did a good job in seperating Thrust from the others, who is unique. He looks like they took Ramjet combined with a little Starscream and gave him his trademark wings. Looks nice.

If they do anymore, I call Sunstorm as the next one!
*curses hasbro with the worst of all curses*
Now I must find a way to acquire these figures. Hasbro! If you're smart, you'd these as online exclusives afterwards! They will sell.

Some greedy person could buy the set and mold Thrust's wings and tail fins. Then cast them in resin and sell them to kitbashers......
nice idea better keep it a secret.

I'm in the same boat, and agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm glad they remolded the wings so Thrust stands out, but I'm still not happy about the exclusivity or price.
As for the whole 'this is the only way Hasbro could release them' argument, I still don't agree...but that's another thread.
