Combaticons WW2 forms

In the beginning of Starscream brigade we clearly see that all the Combaticons originated from Earth WW2 vehicles, where Brawls and Swindles form don't change that much.

But the other three:
Blast off originated from what appears to be a large bomber.
Vortex originated from a propellor aircraft.
Onslaught originated from a cargo truck.

In my opion I must say that I prefer the WW2 forms of Blast off and Vortex much more over their own forms. Why a space shuttle other than the fact they needed one for the script in Revenge of Bruticus?

Not only that. How awesome would Bruticus look like in the following order, according to the pic above.

Blast off - Torso where Bruticus gets wings on his back.
Onslaught and Brawl - legs
Swindle and Vortex - arms

Does anyone else share this?

Motto: "Individual freedom above all else."
I didn't have a problem with Onslaught and Vortex changing, but I agree, Blast Off's shuttle mode was dumb, except for that 1 episode. He should have stayed the bomber, and the biggest part of the gestalt, thus the leader. In this case, he would have needed a new name, and Onslaught would have fit him just fine, and the cargo truck could have gotten a new name.
