The first thing I see out of the hotel. All Twilight fans. Bananas, I tell ya!

Some of my favorite costumes!

Props from Lost

I wanted these badly. Especially the Idol!

Apparently there was a rift in the space time continuum in San Diego.

Cobra Commander getting a table.

Lego!

I've posted this plenty of times but I also saw District 9, which I thought was phenomenal. I didn't see anything other than the first teaser trailer and was caught off guard for every single surprise and cool action scenes.
My favorite memory not captured on camera is a group of us wandering the 32nd floor of Hyatt looking for a bar and suddenly screaming lines of Big Lebowski. "Shut the **** up, Donnie!" Then a woman busting opening her door and screaming at us, "HEY, YOU'RE WAKING UP THE BABY!"
I nearly pooped my pants.
On to the mound of stuff I bought or had signed.
The budget this year was $300 on merchandise... I blew that in 5 minutes as soon as I got there. I was staring at the Shout Factory booth contemplating the GI Joe and Transformers boxsets. The deal breaker was when the guy said they came with posters so I was instantly sold. I clearly lost my mind.

And it's signed by Frank Welker!

Pretty decent haul.

Bought Phil Noto's sketchbook, which I absolutely love. The J. Scott Campbell book is a wedding present for my best friend... however, after flipping through it I wish I bought one as well!

Same Difference & Other Stories is one of my favorites so it was cool to have Derek Kirk Kim sign it along with Eternal Smile with Gene Yang.

Philip Bond signed The Escapists and Kill Your Girlfriend, which was also signed by Morrison a few weeks ago.

I already had the Midnight Nation paperback but I lost my mind again and bought the absolute sized one. JMS signed it as well. Gorgous looking book.

David Peterson

Chris Giarrusso

Phil Noto and John Paul Leon signed my comics. I love Noto's Wonder Woman sketch

Travis Charest. He sold out of Spacegirl. Gah! Maybe next year.

Mike Choi. Hell of a guy! And Sonia signed my book as well.

I almost bought Hero Initiative tickets to Darwyn Cooke's cocktail party by it was too expensive. It was insanely cool to meet him at the IDW booth. He even drew in my Absolute New Frontier, Batman: Ego, and Spirit hardcovers. Can't wait to read the Parker book.

I've became a huge fan of Gabriel Ba, Fabio Moon, Vasilis Lolos, Becky Cloonan, and Rafael Grampa because of 5. I had Gabriel, Fabio, and Becky to sign it last year but it was a bit difficult to track down Rafael. I finally got to meet him at the end of my last day.

On a related note, I missed Gerard Way four times throughout the con. The first time, I didn't win the raffel for the signing. No biggie. Second, he walks my friends and me without me noticing. Third, he was hanging around Becky, the Twins, and Vasilis while I was meeting Rafael... and I didn't have Umbrella Academy on me. Gah! Fourth, he was having breakfast at the same place as us. Oh well. There's always next year.
As you can tell, it was an amazing weekend with comics and friends. Good times.
Best year yet!
