In the G1 cartoon, Ironhide sounded just like Optimus, that is if Optimus was trying to pass a kidney stone. But he stuck around for all of Season 1 and Season 2, then got killed in the first act of 86 movie. And to commemorate his ignominious demise, Hasbro made a new figure for him in the Studio Series! You may have seen the box - with what seemed like a ridiculously small figure peeping out through a corner of the window. And you were right!
