So i'm confused and unaware as to the so called Fan freak out, that apparently accompanied Beast machines? I was reading the article from ICv2 News about the new animated series involving the Transformers and it makes mention of a Botcon cancellation due to fan death threats?? Are you kidding me? I mean there had to be something these writers did that really pissed off the fan community back then.. and since I was heavy on the Comic book end of things back then, and not back into Transformers, i was unaware of the issues surrounding that...
Just like the whole Pat Lee Dreamwave thing, I didn't know he was a cheap skate, I just thought Dreamwave wasn't making enough money to stay alive.. but now I know the "Real" deal..
Anyone know what that, Beast Machines co-writer Marty Isenberg , co-writer Robert Skir, death threats thing was all about?
Here's whats referenced in the article from ICv2 news:
The 26-episode Transformers: Animated will be the first North American designed Transformers series since Transformers: Beast Machines, the CGI series that was produced by Canada's Mainframe Entertainment.
Beast Machines co-writer Marty Isenberg is functioning as the editor/chief writer for the new Transformers: Animated series -- something that hardcore Transformers fans will not be too happy about (Isenberg's Beast Machines co-writer Robert Skir once had to cancel a convention appearance due to death threats from irate fans).

Some fans are so fantically to a franchise that anything new
or different is seen a threat to their fragile little minds.
For all it faults Beast Machines was a pretty damn good show
fans who that make death threats should be arrested and thrown in jail.
If Pat Lee came to a Botcon I would advise all who hate him not to go to the show when he's there, or if he on a panel
don't go to the panel or better yet just stay home.

I would say that anybody who is so fanatical about a cartoon that they offer death threats to someone over 'going differant' needs to get a life. Seriously. If I don't like a TV show, I just don't watch it. If they didn't like a particular cartoon, then they should write a CIVIL letter and describe in a CIVIL manner what they don't like about it. If there are enough of these from enough fans, it can cause a show to get canned or at least cause the producers to sit up and take notice. None of this death threats crap, please

i agree, but i gotta say i like Beast machines, though i prefered Beast Wars transmetals alot better, it was really cool, and the Whole G-1 thing and the last episode with the Nemesis, and all was PH fat!!!Optimal Optimus is one of my favorite Transformers due to his likeness to spark with optimus prime, plus he was like HUGE!! whcih show cased how the earlier Autobots and Decepticons were badass fighters and kinda was a satire on how technology advances and gets smaller over time..yet Big Freaking Robots rule!!!
I just wasn't a fan of the Floating Megatron head...which I would never write a threatening letter over..
Anyways anyone got the inside scoop on this story? What happened? did it cause the show to become cancelled? Was there alot of fan backlash against Beast machines??
Is this why that Drax hall jump designed series never made it?
Is it also why mainframe entertainment will not be doing anymore Transformers cartoon?
I liked Mainframe's cartoons, they were cool.. and they did the Reboot series too...

According to co-writer Robert Skir (or Marty Isenberg I forget which) on the Rhino DVD, Beast Machines was always a
26 episode show (or novel as he put it) and he was told what
Hasbro wanted (he claimed that Hasbro that wanted BM to have the spiritual/religious subtext in the series) and then was pretty much left alone about it.

I dont see why Death threats were received to Bob Skir & Marty Isenberg. They are fantastic writers even though a lot of people hated Beast Machines, it was a danm good show!
Heck! I would ask them to rewrite the Unicron trilogy if I wanted
