Don't blame me, blame my upbringing. 5 older brothers and a dad who was ex-military and a real hard ass.

I am an agreement with you though that young collectors shouldn't get a record just to defend their hobby....
....They should defend it when they're aren't any witnesses around.

You forgot one important key point, considering Wal-Mart. Make sure none of the parking lot cameras can see you. After that, by all means...that tire iron has a secondary use, by golly.

What is it with dads in the military? My dad was retired military and insisited I wrestle, play football, hockey, box and all kinds of crap. I HATED it growing up untill I got in my first fight then I realized how usefull it had been.
I grew up hearing the most used quotes of my life. "You better never start a fight, but you damn sure better finish them." and then "If you get in a fight and loose, you better not come home 'cause then I'll beat your @$$"
I grew up fighting all the time and no matter how many times I got kicked out of school or whatever happened my dad defended me and got me back into the school. It didn't hurt that we moved every few months so he could work.
On a side note... is 5'10" short? I thought that was average height... or were you implying you were small because of weighing 160lbs? Or just saying in general you're not a 7 foot monster?

Well it seems every guy I end up fighting has a few inches on me and is just simply bigger.
If you've got any siblings, did your dad ever give you that "You'd better defend your blood/kin/name" speech?

nerdy? well thats down to the individual and not the collection although one could say anybody with a collection of toys is a nerd!
If people see your collection and you start to show them stamp variations on vintage kups armpit (or wherever it is) then you will be seen as a nerd (or just a complete freak), to try and break the ice with any non TF understanders I pull out gen 1 megs robot and turn him into the gun and then show them masterpiece megs (in robomode) to show it does (theoretically and with time) do the same thing, gen 1 triplechangers with the 3 modes and realish vehicles get guys saying 'thats cool too' as they have a gun sling with megs!! unfortunately the way to de nerd TF's is to say 'one day these will be uber colectible' although im not sure a MISB energon toy wil ever fetch the prices of MISB gen 1 toys!! mention ebay and then its all credible to them.

guilty!
yes, I guess I would have to be considered somewhat of a geek for my obsession with these robots that turn into machines, but what can you do. Secretly, guys, chicks totally dig it! Yeah, not so much, but who cares what other people think. As long as you enjoy it and don't spend your whole bank account collecting, I say enjoy your passion. It is funny how many times I have gone through the check-out line at Target or Toys R Us and the cashier has asked me if I'd like a gift receipt. When I tell them no, I get one of those looks that seems to imply, "Oh, you're one of Those dudes."

That defense will hold in any court of law.

Re: guilty!
I was sorting through my receipts last night and realized that my Toys R Us has given me gift receipts with practically all my Transformer purchases, and video game, without even asking me.fanboy999 wrote:yes, I guess I would have to be considered somewhat of a geek for my obsession with these robots that turn into machines, but what can you do. Either this is their policy, or my typically going in there in a shirt and tie (after work and stuff) is really throwing them off.
