Do you think Transformers will continue for another 20 years
Seeing as how it has lasted this long, and with so many different series/sagas/comics, i think it will. With that in mind, will the legacy continue for a 100? That would be wild.

It's something to think about. But toys are constantly growing more high-tech, and in 20 years, who knows what we'll have? I don't know if we'll have figures the way we do now, and in 100 years, I'm pretty sure we'll have evolved to bigger and better things. If we(humans)are still here that is, and have money to spend.

Yes I think it will.
But in such other ongoing series as say SuperMan, BatMan, Spider-Man ect. there will be eventual lulls.
These examples are timeless comics. Granted they generated tv shows, movies, cartoons, toys and so on. They will always have their comic roots.
Another example is Star Wars, this started in film, has transended into other media, but still the origional source is what will always be demanded. When not aplicable, comics cartoons or whatever will pick up the slack.
Hell, lets go back even further, Little Orphan Annie is still alive and kicking. Even if the newspaper strip faulters, something will come along to keep that memory alive.
It seems that when a series runs past a certain amount of time, it becomes locked into a liniage.
We should be greatful every one of us that our efforts have inducted TRANSFORMERS into these iconic hallowed halls of modern myth

I cant see why not.Characters like Superman,Batman and Robin have all hit the 70 year mark and the G.I.Joe toyline is over 40 years old already.
Barbie turns 50 next year so I cant see wht Transformers cant do the same.

I think Transformers will stick around, both in television (or some futuristic equivalent) and also as toys. Kids will always want toys. As our society becomes more advanced and complex, so will our toys. Transformers of the future may be quite different, but there will always be room in the world for Megatron and Optimus Prime. Can you imagine walking talking Transformers figures that learn and retain information. You could stage battles, let your Transformers interact, friend and foe, much like Furbies, though far more advanced. In vehicle mode, perhaps they'll be remote controlled. Transformation may become automatic, though I'm betting the option to do it manually sticks around too. Part of the fun of Transformers is that they are much like very complicated puzzles. Not Rubix Cube complex, mind you, but still a mental workout for a young child. This stimulates creative thought, concentration, and recognition of patterns, all vital mental skills to develop as a child.

I think it will be around for quite a long time! It will continue to evolve as it has for over 20+ yrs. As long as they keep the interest and imagination of children and adults alike it will last!

The big question is: When will I draw the line with toy buying?

Re: Do you think Transformers will continue for another 20 years
As long as you make good products toys will continue. Some toys are fads. Look around see what is old and what is gone. Certain things have enough story built in that imaginations can run wild. One toy we missed is LEGO. It is a plastic brick. This probably seemed a fad at first but geez what a product. I still love my legos even buy a few new ones here and there.
Live long and prosper TF's

I think if Transformers was going to go under, it would've happened between the periods of Generation 2 and Beast Wars, so I think it'll keep picking up steam. Although, for it to keep thriving, the next generation of writers and toy designers will need to be as good as the people we have now.

I think it will last for another 20 years for sure. Now it seems like what is old is new! Lets see here My Little Pony stuff is back,a few years ago Rainbow Brite was back, Care Bears are back *shudders*. Hasbro shoves crap down our throats and will continue to do so. Transformers will probably survive.

I believe that TF will still be around even more than 20 years later.
Except that it might "fade out" occasionally.....

I believe it will die down and have a resurgence at some point.

Re: Do you think Transformers will continue for another 20 years
It will be around forever. Its lasted this long and it only had a toy line and then a cartoon. Comics came into play and then it went on to produce a great movie and so on. With another movie on the way and transformers cartoons and different lines of figures weather it be animated or movie lines of figures why would it ever die out. If it was going to die out then it would have already did so. In 10-20 years there may be transformer figures where you push a botton and they transform by them selfs. Trust me, Its here to stay.

I think they'll stay around. Mighty Mouse has been around since 1942, and it's still going.

The franchise will continue up until the rapture. At which point angels will take over product development and sales & distribution for Hasbro.

Re: Do you think Transformers will continue for another 20 years
If the franchise continues to just rehash old characters and old concepts in an effort to keep the G1 purists happy, then Transformers will eventually grow old and stale.
If fans continue to freak out over every change the franchise undergoes and continue to demand a thousand different remakes of everything 1985-G1, then Transformers will not be able to attract new fans who don't give a crap about Geewhun.
Face it, if it hadn't been for Beast Wars, the most extreme re-invention of the franchise, Transformers would probably not have lived on as a franchise into the new millenium.
