Does anyone else play Fire Emblem?

When Super Smash Bros. Melee came out about ten years ago, I was immediately interested in the characters Marth and Roy, but never could find any of the games from the FE series until recently. Two years ago I searched all kinds of places, and I managed to get all the games released in North America, and I've been playing them a lot lately. So anyway, I was just curious, so I want to know if anyone else here plays Fire Emblem games, and if so, what your favorite entry of the series is.

Yes!
I loved Fire Emblem 9 and 10. They are really good games once you understand the background mechanics of how your party members interact. Radiant Dawn was really quite challenging.

I agree! Especially later in the game when you have to split up your units. I ended up regretting a lot of the decisions I made when I tried to keep certain characters in the same division for support.

I'd played them before on the SNES, but given that Shining Force was also out at the time.... I passed.
Then I played the Gamecube one. It was so bad I vowed never to touch FE again. Dodgy game mechanics, poor storyline and awful AI just added up to a whole heap of "meh".

If you ever decide to try one again, I'd recommend FE8- Sacred Stones. It's probably one of the best overall. Just a suggestion.

Whoa whoa, what?
Are you talking about "Path of Radiance"? You can't be... That's the FE game on GameCube with interesting game mechanics, an engaging story, and only sometimes cheaty-AI.
I actually think the squeal, "Radiant Dawn" is better, but it's so hard that I think you really need to cut your teeth on "Path of Radiance" first.
If I didn't have Record of Agarest War next up in my line, I might go back to play the others again.

I finished Path of Radiance a couple of times (enough to get all the normal characters and was a couple away from starting on getting the bosses for subsequent plays), largely because I didn't have a PC and had sold a huge chunk of my retro RPGS.
I actually finished it on hard by pretty much only using Ike. A lot of my characters weren't even promoted. Also - his special attack makes the whole game pointless. On the final battle, I run him into the middle where the fountain is and he'll kill everything on his own. On a sub-note, the same can be said of all the bonus missions.
I'm pretty hardcore at SRPGS, and Path of Radiance was pretty much a walk-over compared to a monster like Shining Force 3 on HARD, or even Vandal Hearts II. Whilst its true that checking the option in Path of Radiance so characters level up depending on class adds little more, it didn't add too much to the difficulty curve.
On the stategy front right now I'm going though Fallout Tactics on "tough guy" mode so I can only save before a mission starts.

Interesting, it sounds like you kind of power-gamed through. Did you do all the story based stuff?

I did most of the relationships stuff, and got all the normally and secret playable characters (I had a complete roster in the bonus section). I was one or two playthoughs to getting the bosses as bonus characters.
