Curious about this Autobot. I have his figure, but I never saw him in the show. Was he never a prominent character in the series?

He appeared in only four of issues of Marvel's original G1 run. I have not idea how big of a role he played in each issue:

Nah, he showed up in like, a couple of episodes of the Japanese Headmasters, but none of the monsterbots showed up in The Rebirth.

It was actually even less than that. In the link you provided, UK issues 131 and 142 featured reprints of material from the US Headmasters issues 1 and 4 respectively. Also, I'm not sure if he even appeared in the US issue #41 beyond being on the cover. So that brings the total up to two issues and one cover.
His role in these issues (along with the roles of the other monsterbots, Repugnus and Grotusque) was very minor. In the first issue of Headmasters they show up, introducing themselves in the typically forced Budiansky manner of referring to themselves in the third person so all the kids at home will know the names of which toys they want their parents to buy, and then they join Fortress Maximus' group of pacifist separatists. Although this might seem contrary to the nature of the monsterbots given the contents of their tech specs and Marvel Universe bios, they claimed they wanted to "give peace a chance." After that, the three of them had a couple of sparse lines while fighting the Decepticons on Nebulos, but nothing major at all.
Doublecross was also supposed to have a cameo in the convention exclusive Wreckers #4, but the comic was never printed. I remember seeing Guido's pencils from that page somewhere online, and it simply depicted Doublecross and Grotusque helping a drunken Repugnus out of Maccadam's Old Oil House.
In the Japanese Headmasters cartoon, he appeared a couple of times fighting alongside his fellow monsterbots, beginning with the battle on the beastformers' planet. His character was primarily played for comic relief, emphasizing his multiple personality disorder, and again, he didn't do anything terribly significant.
And of course, like every other G1 character, he had a bio in DW's MTMTE series. And that's about all I can think of off hand. Too little, if you ask me, from a character who has some very interesting potential to him.

Wow, thanks all. Tons of info.
It suprises me that the Monsterbots weren't given much of a role. It seems they would have had alot of appeal to kids back then.

I never really liked the Monsterbots. At that point, they didn't seem to be worth it. They tranformed into unrecognizable junk, as far as I was concerned. As as a kid, they still didn't have much in the way of play value for me.

Yeah, I only had Repugnus and the only reason I played with him in my set was because I liked his "bug" mode.
