Speaking of fems....I think the Viper Twins are a bit underated.

I especially like Roulette.

The Viper twins sadly were part of a storyline most fans weren't aware of at the time and only available thru the convention.

The question of their coolness is a double edged sword.
Cool:
They were new female characters.
They are sisters.
They are different factions

Uncool:
They are convention toys, thus limited and quite rare.
Many fans are unaware of them due to their limited presence in fiction.
As cool as they are, they are basically a retool of the mold used for Sideburn, making them shellformers.

Wouldn't it be foolish for Megatron or whomever to kill off all the fembots, if it sounds like they are needed for your species to reproduce?

In conclusion... there are a lot of different possibilities and theories about reproduction.
I speculate that Megatron (or whoever committed the mass murder of the femmes, most likely him) probably just considered the femmes too weak to be of any use to him and just figured he might as well just get them out of the way.

Not for sexist reasons, but just being practical (in a sick, twisted, genocidal kind of way).
But at the same time it COULD be robo-sexism. Even Seibertron.com says something about this. Read G1 Arcee's profile here...

It says that Decepticons typically find that femmes resemble human females too much, which Decepticons have zero respect for. That sounds pretty sexist.

But then again there are several very notable Decepti-femmes. Why would they be there if Decepticons are male-exclusive. It could be that they are just THAT tough that they are exceptions.

But different Transformer universes often clash with each other.
There could be other possiblities.

If too weak for battle was the case, then why not just use them as workers and other forced labor?

It could simply be that the femmes were mostly prisoners of war. Chances are many couldn't be persuaded to join the Decepticons and were those femmes were executed.
The others that DID cave became the first Decepticon femmes (a theory I stated earlier in this thread).

Or this whole thing may just be entirely exclusive to that particular Transformers series. It could be totally null and void in other universes as say Armada, Animated, or the live action Movie-verse.

Indeed, I thnk the whole issue is that despite there being 'con Fems, that what little spotlight for fembots in the francise was given fell to 'bots.

As far as G1 goes, including Japan, and the recent Go-bots additions there are 20 named female Autobots (including Minerva, technically more of a headmaster) to 7 named Decepticons of which:
Clio: never existed beyond a mention on a letters page in a UK comic.
Crasher: Retcon edition from Go-Bots
Nightracer: Botcon exclusive
Esmeral: Victory. Wife of the Decepticon leader Deathsaurus
Lyzack: Victory. Sister of the Decepticon member Leozack.
Flip Sides: e-Hobby special redeco of the Eject/Rewind, Female by way of bio. And a pink paint job.
Howlback: e-Hobby redeco of Ravage Female by way of bio.

Not a roaring endorcement for an unseen network of female Decepticon existing elsewhere, thou the addition of Go-bots does mean there should be a few more. Add Universe/Timelines and The bots get 6 more, while the cons only get 3. and The Beast wars adds 5 to each side.

Not even touching the Unicron trilogy as Thunderblast is the only con while the autobots get Override, and new copies of Arcee & Airazor with a number of referances to others.

All in all, with the exception of Animated where things are currently even, the Decepticons have kept their Fembots to unseen references, unknown storylines, and retroactive additions. No wonder there could be a belief that Megs would have trouble with them or be getting rid of them.

Sad really, seeing since Arcee was made a central figure I expected that a female 'Con would be introduced as a "Baroness" to Arcee's "Scarlet".

There aren't many D-con femmes. But that fact that they exist at all eliminates the "boys-only" idea for Decepticons.

I seriously would LOVE to see a short series on what may have happened to any surviving femmes after the slaughter. Like I said before, sounds like fabulous fan-fic/fan-comic fodder.
Maybe if I ever get really good at drawing TFs (and find the time) I'll could up with a comic myself.

And perhaps throw Siren Prime in there somewhere. ^^

Scarlett (Shana O'Hara) being the main female on the Joe team, at times acting as the second highest officer.

Baroness Anastasia de Cobray is her counterpoint on the Cobra side, usually seen as one of the three main leaders, with Cobra Commander and Destro.

Both will be characters in the movie releasing later this year.

Overlord (technically half female)
Shadow Striker
Strika
Flamewar

Actually I covered most of those as Shadow Striker, Strika & Flamewar count not as G1 but technically under Universe (note I mentioned 3 came from there). The link you posted confirms this.

As for Overlord, I didn't mention him, because if you want to be technical was neither Male nor Female, until Devil Z made him into a full lifeform. Mega was the female who piloted the Megajet, a Transtector that when merged with the Gigatank piloted by her husband Giga to form Overlord.

As unlike the Powermasters which were partners of man and robot, the Transtectors were simply machines powered by their pilots. As she is an alien humaniod, she is as much a Fembot as Miverna, who also is a Transtector and if anything a headmaster, not a fembot herself.

Once Devil Z killed the couple and gave function to Overlord he was fully male.

Shadow Striker, Strika or Flamewar are not G1.

They may be attached to the "Ever growing" G1 continuity but they are not G1 characters.

What is it with female characters always having a crossbow or a whip? Every Arcee toy released so far has had a crossbow. Scarlet had a crossbow. Catwoman uses a whip and Wonder Woman uses a lasso, the same thing. And Blackarachnia combined the 2 with her grappler gun which is basicly just a whip attached to a crossbow. I think it's kind of sexist. Why can't more female transformers(and other heroins) have something more original like a sniper rifle or a missile launcher like C-Thunderblast.
