What would you do if someone does not receive their package? I sell a few things every once in a while on ebay and I keep the reciept from shipping, but it normally does not give any information other than this for example:
-- 2x US Postal Services x 6.99 ---
I have in my seller terms and conditions I am not responsible for loss during shipping but, has anybody here ever shipped something and it didn't reach its destination? What would you do if it did not reach its destination? Do you think some people lie and say they have never received their package when in fact they have? Anybody got any stories?
? for those who have sold on ebay.

ALWAYS get delivery confirmation, and insurance if it is a high priced item.
How long has the item been in transit?

Delivery conformation is your friend.
I had someone say that they never recieved the package, but then found them selling the item a month later. Thankfully I never sent them a refund.
I also had a guy say that he didn't get my payment, and never sent the item (Alt. Tracks). I never got my money back, and he re-sold the item (for way more than the 14 bucks I paid). I didn't get negative feedback, but I was out 14 bucks and he got to sell his item. I finally tracked down the m.o. number that I sent, and it never got cashed, so he was telling the truth.
But I was still out 14 bucks.
I'd see if the post office could somehow track the package, but without a tracking number, I don't know if they can. I got burned like this before, so I always use delivery conformation, and email the person to "ask if they like the item", but I am really telling them "hey, you got the package, now leave me some nice feedback!"
Sorry I couldn't help more, but at least I know how you feel.

I add delivery confirmation pricing into the shipping cost any time I sell on Ebay. Some people do lie, but I like to think that most people are honest, and I know that packages sent to me have gotten lost on occasion. Jsut make sure you can track the package jsut in case you have to deal with less then honest buyers.

I have never had anyone lie and say they never received their package but I did however purchase 2 items for about $80 off of a seller in Canada a year or 2 ago on ebay, and he just took my money. Paypal got back about 25bucks for me (thats impressive buyer protection huh?.-end sarcasm-).. Anyways, it has only been a little over a week since i shipped, so i'm not worried. I was just trying to figure out what I would do, the day that someone claims they did not receive their item(s).

It really depends on how the buyer paid for the item.. eBay will require the buyer to do a paypal dispute first (if thats how they paid) ALWAYS use delivery confirmation (free if you pay for postage with paypal and it automatically attaches the tracking number to the paypal payment AND ebay auction).. As long as you can prove (via delivered/lost package with delivery confirmation to the ZIP CODE) you will always win a paypal dispute and non-shipping seller dispute (even if all you sent was an empty box)...
Remember, Delivery confirmation IS NOT a tracking number, it is just proof of delivery/shipping.. and Insurance is the SELLERS responsibility unless stated otherwise in the auction (according to US law, the buyer should RECIEVE the item as described, NOT the seller should SHIP the item as described)
Ive been down this road many times and both a buyer and seller.. In the end usually the most informed person comes out on top. There are alot of forums out there specifically for ebay and paypal (mostly complaining about them, but you will find useful info on them usually)

I lost my ass on a big lot of Beast Wars, including Optimal Optimus and Depthcharge. I think they lied about it, but I ended up giving them their money back. My wife sold some Wizard of Oz stuff and the people said it arrived broken. We did the same for that. If you want to keep your rating up and you didn't get delivery confermation, you have to suck it up. I did, anyway.

I started using FedEx Ground a while back because it can be tracked online. The price and delivery times are comparable to USPS Priority Mail. I've had a couple of instances where the package disappeared and I was able to track it down online. It's very reliable.

if you do sell on ebay, then definitely you should be getting delivery confirmation. especially if you are shipping priority, delivery confirmation is FREE, either through the paypal system or signing up for the usps click-n-ship.
as for the current situation without any proof of delivery, there's not much you can do aside he-said-she-said really.
