This question is for serious gamers only.
Do you feel taking advantage of either of these is wrong?
I personally feel cheat codes are wrong, anytime you have to enter a sequence of buttons to achieve something, you didn't really get it. The only time I feel it's ok is if I have all ready beaten the game, and I am looking for some added fun. Also, if I don't plan on fully devulging myself into the game.
However, I don't see much of a problem with glitches. Sometimes, I dont have a lot of spare time in real life (especially after my son was born) that it's nice to get a bit of a time saver. For little things like extra monies or leveling up. I just don't have the time to grind like I used to. I feel it's less of a crime when the game "levels with you" so the challenge is still pretty much the same as if you didn't do it.

While I normally don't endorse glitches/cheats, ever so often I find myself using them. Case in point, in Dragon Age: Origins, the last achievement I needed was to get my mage to level 20.
I didn't really feel like playing the whole game again for the fourth time, I resorted to the power leveling glitch. At some point I know that I'll do a complete playthrough as a mage. (on a side note, has anyone else noticed Bioware games getting easier and easier?)
Back during the SNES and Genesis generation, I was a frequent abuser of the Game Genie. I was much younger and not as skilled so I resorted to cheating. When I go back and play those games now, I wonder what in the hell was wrong with me.
In the end, it all depends on how you want to enjoy the games you're playing. Some people just want to breeze through it without a worry in the world, while others enjoy the challenge of doing everything themselves.
It's kind of like the same thing as whatever difficulty you play on. Take Halo 3 as an example. Some people won't play on anything but the legendary difficulty, while others have a blast just playing on easy.
Games are made for enjoyment. However you achieve that enjoyment is up to you, you shouldn't really care how others may judge you. Games are for fun, and to me, that is the bottom line.

In a single player game, sure. Hey, if I want to have infinite health, infinite ammo, and every gun the game has to offer, that's my choice. But never, ever is it right to cheat in a multiplayer game. Co-op, maybe, if the other players agree, but never in multiplayer.

Only use cheats when I'm done with the game. Such as the Grand Theft Auto games for PS2. I will just run around with tons of ammo. I feel it's not much of an accomplishment if you finish a game with cheats. There's no satisfaction for me.

Well said, especially about multiplayer... I quit playing Halo 2 Online because of the lamers with the super jump who would get the sniper and get up a building you couldn't reach and whatnot.

Didn't Bungie patch that? My favorites were the people that would fire a rocket, quickly switch to their energy sword, lock on to said rocket and fly all the way across the map. Not really effective, but it was damn funny to watch.

I agree. If its on my own I dont mind using a cheat or two. Especially times when you get stuck at a certain point for days and days and days and its a such mundane point that you just wanna move on already. I see it as just taking off a couple of points off you total score cuz you know inside you used a cheat to get passed that one part.

my rules are fairly simple.
In multi-player, glitches are usable if they are 'fair' in the sense that anyone can use it to their advantage and it isn't a game breaker (very subjective, obviously). Cheats, however fall under unfair advantage so are completely out.
In Single-player... have a ball. The only integrity hurt is your own, and luckily it's gone numb from atrophy years ago.

Ahhhh good old iddqd and idkfa for doom 2.....ahhhhhh
Actually that's the only game I EVER cheated on. It's fun to go into a level with a bunch of imps an BFG them into hamburger
Glitches, eh they're glitches it depends on them. I hate it when people managed to get caught into stone bricks in Modern Warfare and they can shoot you but you can't shoot them because of the stone....arrghhhhh
