The only time Starscream had a chance is when he was overpowered by the Allsp... I mean... the Underbase.

Other than that, he had no chance.

Even then he didn't actually take out Grimlock. It took all the other Cons to do it. And regardless of being a great planner, when it comes down to it, one on one Starscream has nothing for Grimlock in the comics.

Screamer could probably do it if he had his Pretendershell (+ that mindwipe where he lost his personality).

Otherwise I'd vote Grimlock.

Grimlock is a bad-ass Dino' commander, and Starscream is, essentially a coward.

I'm going to assume no pretender shells.

Starscream would use hit-and-run tactics. He'd hope that his null rays would knock out Grimlock. He'd know deep down that G was too tough for that. I think that G would do his best to knock S out of the sky. He'd use his missile launcher of course. He'd throw large objects with great accuracy. He'd even leap high into the air with his strong legs and try to shoot S from a different angle or even grab him. Another possibility is that G would hide and try to ambush S.

S might be able to wear G down eventually. S might fly off now and then to get more ammunition and energon. However, one hit from G could spell the end for S. It's like one of those fights between a tarantula and a parasitic hawk wasp. Sometimes the wasp wins but otherwise the tarantula overpowers the wasp because it's a lot stronger.
