How Come deluxe 2008 Bumblebee Has A Gun With No Bullets, But A Blade?
I read about this at Monkeybartv.
How come Deluxe 2008 Bumblebee has a gun with no bullets, but a blade?
It's strange how the 74 one has Plasma Cannons with bullets. But this is just a cannon, that can be folded into a blade.
The other question is when did Bumblebee use this in the movie... did he even have a blade?

He isn't really hardcore, but I guess he is a bit like Jazz eh, has the implement of style. But if he was hardcore he'd be like Bonecrusher, and he's definitely not like Bonecrusher.

Well, if you think about it. Bumblebee is the autobot spy. What better way to make a silent kill than to sneak up behind and backstab a decepticon with an energy blade? When in a covert operation. the last thing you want to do is pull the trigger on a cannon.

In the movie, it was his right hand transforming into a gun. The toy version approximates that gun, and attaches it to the hand.
Notice the hand (of the toy) is not holding the gun in the usual way. But rather, grabing it in a forward manner. Making the gun look like it's the continuous extension of the arm. Much like the movie image.
The gun actually looks quite accurate with the movie.
I don't know the explanation of the blade thing.
Probably he has an ability to convert his arm into a blade as well. Like Prime's.

I was thinking the same thing about wreckages gun/swords and i figure.....
If u are using an energy based weapon if u smple change the frequency in which it is produced u could choose between have it make short bursts which would project over long distances and "fire" or having a constant stream which would disapate after a relatively very short distance, which would be more use in a melee.
It makes a lot of sense when u look at it that way!
Its like having different barrels to attach to a gun to make it fire over different ranges, or attatching a bayonet instead.
As a matter of fact thats what it is, A BAY-onet!
I am so clever!

The rape-blade is from the Transformers movie video game. I think his 3-hit combo attack allows him to deploy the blade and shock foes.
It's an energy weapon, Hawking. Energy weapons don't shoot bullets!
If by 'bullets' you mean 'missiles,' think about toy laws. Projectiles need to be 2 inches long, I think. If his cannon was to be able to shoot a 2-inch-long missile, the cannon itself would have to be much bigger (and they'd probably screw up the proportions resulting in something bloated, ugly, and non-accurate like Ironhide's cannons) OR have the missile stick out of the barrel like those ulgy ones on the first Deluxe Bumblebee.

I thought it may have had something to do with the fact that there is no room for any missiles to be stored on Bumblebee that would pass the strict US toy safety laws, and rather than give you a rather lame plain cannon, that Hasbro decided to put their gimmick to use.
08 Bumblebee has 3 Automorph features (technically 4), 1 on each leg, his chest, as well as his weapon. Not bad for a Deluxe class figure.
Personally I like the blade, its a nice change from a giant long missile, that usually still manages to get lost with the greatest of ease. Also gives posing and diorama's more flair.

btw is it true that the new 08 bb doesn't have automorph problems like the 74 bb?

If you had have asked me this a few days ago I would have said none what-so-ever. I still say that now, but with a warning:
His chest Automorph can slip teeth, much like Blackout's can.
Note that this only happened after 4 of my friends had spent close to 3 hours between them trying to transform him form robot mode to car mode without instructions, and had ignored me telling them that the arms need to be in a certain position to transform him correctly.
All their force and effore eventually led to the teeth slipping, and the transformation being un-aligned. I managed to fix it though so its no biggy.
The feet automorph is also getting a little loose, but this is bound to happen to all the automoporhs, and really does not impact the figure at all.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

I prefer the no-missiles design of BB 08's weapon.
Makes him and his weapon looks more realistic.
No missile, no projectiles... means no additional springs that can break down in the long run.
I'm actually worried about the automorph breaking down in the years to come.

I know what you mean. That crap breaks, there goes your figure. That's why I'm worried about my Ironhide's legs, everytime I transform them one leg is stiff and won't budge, and I have to force it, etc.

Hey, look, my opinion on the missiles is that if it looks good, go for it (Leader Class Prime OH MY GOD), but they're easy things to lose, which is why accessories go for 20+ bucks on eBay.
Less missiles to lose is good for me. In fact, I've got to start putting my excess TF accessories/peripherals into a plastic bag so I don't lose them.

Most of the time, i left the missiles in the original box/packaging. Didn't bother to take them out.
Except for missiles that for an integral part of the weapon. Such as Classics Starscreams shoulder guns.

well, it's not too late because that balde could be a prototype and think it like this, that blade can fire blasts and goes everywhere but there's those folding peices make it only go through that hole. If you know what I mean.
