How to neatly open up Alternators box?

Postby SnipeShade » Sat Sep 15, 2007 4:08 pm

XD I know its a silly topic, but I don't want to rip it up. And the alternators box doesnt seem to have a opening, unless I pull off the top.

But I've seen colletors with their toys out of the box, and the box is still intact.

Tips?

I was thinking of making a neat cut alone the bottom of the plastic cover, but yea...

Follow MentalDragon's method, collect 1 MISB set (so you don't need to bother how to neatly open the box), and collect 1 loose set (so you can play with them and display them in bot mode).

I think I might choose that route too (25pcs MISB + 3pcs loose so far).

Cheers!

I think you mean the new bubble-boxes... they are a pain for non-MISB collectors who want to keep the boxes in best shape available. (And the biggest glory for MISB collectors)

My method:
1.the paperbox you can open regularly, then loose the inner bubble
2. You must get a sharp knife or a scissor, and cut the outer bubble up as carefully as you can where it meets the paperbox (only half of it is enough to pull the inner bubble out)

-as barbaric as it sounds, there is no other way I found...

oh shoot. I didn't consider fact that the pictures I saw prolly had the toy still in it. X3 With a duplicate of the toy outside. *sighs*

Too bad I don't have the dough to get another one. Im saving up for the DVDs... cuz APPARENTLY i'm gonna have to buy more than 1 Dvd for the movie. DAMN THOSE EXCLUSIVES!!! rawr.

I've got a real sharp knife to cut it open, but I was just hoping I would have to go that route. x3

I use an X-acto knife. Its the best tool to use really. I cut underneath the sides and the front of the bubble, leaving the rear part intact. Works wonders. Clean and sweet. I'll then open the box and cut the tape to free the inner bubble. And that's it. I can then use the box again if I want, and it does look like a MISB.

The secret to make it look like a MISB, is to of course use the sharpest blade you can. And then to make sure to leave the glued part of the cardboard on the plastic. To do that, I slide the blade between the cardboard and the plastic, and while slicing I'll place the blade at an angle of maybe 40 degrees or so, and then cut a first time all around. I'll do that 2 times if needed, to be sure to do it as clean as possible. Then I'll cut off the plastic from the thin layer of paper created by the previous process. And there you go. I've always opened my figures that way. And it always worked great.
