I just picked up the first transformers spotlight collection

I thought that title would get your attention your saying hey that is in the wrong forum doesn't that belong in the comic forum. But this has to do with toys after reading the shockwave story it occured to me that if they redid the dinobots after the new animated series is over and done with and there getting ready to do them for what seems like the hundreth time and course they can't do the g1 orignials. So wouldn't be cool if they took the idea from shockwave spotlight and designed them similar to how they appear in that story after reformating into there earth forms. Also another question who is nightbeat I have never heard of him before reading that story.

As far as I know, Nightbeat is the only Transformers detective. He can often be seen strutting along streetlamps, wearing a Fedora and musing like Sam Spade.

I have to wonder if they started to run out of ideas for transformers back stories by this point a autobot detective that one is a little bit out there. Also how is hearts of steal because they also had that packaged as graphic novel there as well.

I thought hearts of steel was great, mainly because it was set in that different time era i don't read much of in comics.

Hearts of Steel was really awesome, kind of gives the Transformers a steampunk flair. Shockwave had a cool altmode as the seekers had an interesting altmode as well. I also found it intersting how they managed to try and pull off Astrotrain.

As fas as the comics go, I also liked the Soundwave Spotlight and the GI Joe vs Transformers stuff was excellent as well, but that's just my opinion.

If you knew it was in the wrong forum, why did you post it here?

Weapon: Twin Shoulder-Mounted Rocket Launchers
hearts of steel and megatron origin are 'must read' items, they both rock and give us some really cool looking alt modes!

Wait, Megs origin TPB is out dec 15? That's a Sat. It cant be. We need positive confirmation when this will be released. Preferable that week before the 15th so I still have easy access to it.

That's the publishing date, so it'll be out the following Thursday, or the week after. :-x That means I'll have to wait til January to pick it up and hope there's some left.

I could have done that, as I went into town a surprising amount over the summer, but I've decided I'm only going to get the TPB's from here on in. Yes, I will have to wait longer, but it looks better on my shelves, I don't get stuck with cliffhangers, I can read the whole story at once and there's the sketches in the back, which I quite enjoy seeing. But it does mean I have to wait longer.

night beat was a nobody toy that Simon made into a well known, and often beloved, character about 20 years ago. He's actually created to give life to a series that was facing challenges of coporate pressure to sell toys. instead of being bullied over he managed to talk several unmemmorable toys and create some pretty godo stories and memorable charccters such as nightbeat, bludgeon, and thunderwing. you should check out the B&W titan mini trades.

Agree with Calvatron here, Nightbeat, along with Thunderwing, Bludgeon and Octopunch were pretty ordinary toys that were made very appealing by the writing of Furman.

Add to that how he improved the characters of Grimlock, Megatron, Ratchet, Ultra Magnus and Hotrod, and you have some damn good reasons to read his Marvel and Marvel UK G1 work.

Hearts of Steel (HoS) is a nice "what-if" story that has some of the same faults as the more recent Megatron Origin's TPB. The story is too short, and the actual plot leaves a lot to be desired. The Character designs and artwork however are worth a look at.
