Hey guys,
Just got a G1 Sunstreaker off ebay...did I overpay?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... &rd=1&rd=1
I got a little excited because it was a Buy it Now...damn eBay...then I noticed it was missing the back spoiler...I'll never find that!
Oh well at least it looks to be in good shape from the sole picture.
Knee jerk reaction?

As long as he's not busted up when he gets there, I think you got an okay deal. You'll have to spend $15-20 to get the other fist, the back fin, and the missiles if you want, which puts you right in line for the $50 range he's been finishing at, near complete.
I worry about the chrome in that pic, but the seller's feedback is good...if it turns out to be worse, he'll probably work with you.

That's not a bad price. I bought Sunstreaker about five years ago for £70 with an unapplied sticker sheet. I think I sold him last year with a box for about £40.
The one think I can't tell from the sole picture is whether the panel underneath the rear wheels is attached or not (basically the panel is to hide the arms whilst in alt mode).
A fresh set of stickers and a replacement fist and you'll be ready to rock

I paid $65 for my Sunstreaker. He was complete and had as perfect chrome as you can get for a non-MISB Sunstreaker.
Shipping was $8 and then like an additional $7.50 for fresh stickers.
So, I paid overall, about $80 for a truely C9 (+ ish..) Sunstreaker, of course you could argue that the non-original stickers invalidate this grade. However, if you do that, I don't like you.
Rule for vintage stuff. Be 100% sure of what you're getting. There is no deal to be had really in the vintage market. Everyone who has these toys knows what they're worth and sells accordingly.
I bought a G1 Mirage, complete for $20 once. I was stoked.
Got the figure, only to find out that the seller had broken it in half and glued it back together. I suppose he hoped no one would notice? At any rate, I sent it back and got myself a C8+/C9 Mirage for $50. Lesson learned.

Thanks for your input guys - Ya, I think I jumped the gun a bit - you never know what you may end up with on eBay. I don't know what came over me! And you really can't tell a whole lot from the picture. I won't know for sure until it gets here - just the parts are so expensive also!
I just really started re-discovering transformers...ahh the memories...Over the past month I have really gone a little crazy - I need to curtail my spending!
No need for me to rush right? heh just once you buy one...you start thinking to yourself..."man now I need to get so they can fight/have crazy adventures!" or whatever...
Should I be ashamed of loving something them so?...

...nope

The first year after I got back into collecting, which was right about when Energon started, I spent about a grand on TFs without even realizing it because I jsut kept buying figures. Once the initial rush of buying them fades you'll find yourself being more selective, though honestly I still probably spend about 6-7 hundred a year, jsut that I'm spending it more either rarer figures or on things like MPs and Exclusives.

I just got back in as well, and overspending is par for the course. I'd been "clean" for seven years, and decided on a wtf whim to buy a Cyb. Sideways. And I did pretty well with it, only had about 10 figures total by last Novemeber.
Now? Over 100 bots. That's after culling the herd back to reasonable levels.
My only advice as a conformed completionist is try not to get too caught up buying figures that are 'neat' and focus on the figures you actually like. For me, it makes every one of my bots a worthwhile addition, instead of a "why did I buy this POS again?" Good luck with your collection and happy hunting.
